What foods to eat to keep you on the road to weight loss

I've been so confused lately with what I should eat, when I should eat, and unfortunately how to tell myself no! All these things online kind of throw me off. For example, if you google how to lose 10 or 20 pounds in a month, you'll obviously get a lot of crap; some make sense, others I couldn't follow. I mean I love food and it's difficult for me to get into the groove of trying to stick to a diet full of just vegies and fruits. I'm going on vacation in about 7 weeks and I'm also trying to drop 18 pounds in that time...I know it sounds crazy, but I have to find a way. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should do to get me on track? Does anyone have the same problem?

Be happy and appreciate your current weight! Take things slowly. Drink more water. Incorporate more fruits/veggies. Get more sleep. And be as active as possible. Oh and be HAPPY, the happier you are the higher your metabolism. Good luck! :-)0

That does make a lot of sense! lol I guess I don't appreciate the way I am right now. I just keep thinking of what I'd rather be. Thanks for the help.0 -
well, first off...even attempting to lose 10-20 pounds in a month is a recipe for disaster. Fad diets, fast weight loss, and the like lead to a couple things 1) binging 2) an impaired metabolism and 3) muscle loss...none of which are beneficial for long term weight management.
Make it your goal to lose 1-2 pounds a week..that's 7-14 pounds during the 7 weeks until your vacation.
Make a plan that you can stick to. You'll lose 0 pounds if you resolve to lose 3 pounds a week and find yourself struggling to stay under some starvation level intake--binge--and then undo all of your hard work. So, choose a modest calorie intake, 1500 maybe, get active (45-60 mins 5-6x a week), and try to make the best food choices possible.
Trade whole wheat bread for white.
Have maple and brown sugar oatmeal cooked in water with a sliced banana and cup of yogurt instead of a pastry for breakfast.
Have brown rice instead of white.
Slow churned/light ice cream instead of full fat (1 serving and a "treat" --deprivation does not work long term)
Have healthy fats like avocado, pb, nuts, olives, seeds with your meals but measure them
Drink lots of water/fluids
Limit your intake of refined sugars/carbohydrates
Incorporate fruits/veggies into your snacks/meals0
