Music Bpm for running?

Hello,
I am trying to create a mix of music so that I can start running again. My goal is to run 5.0 mph so I would like to find music to help me stay at that pace. Does anyone know how many bpm (beats per minute) I should seek in my music? A number range would be helpful (ex. 135 bpm).
Thanks.

I'm not sure the BPM, but around the same as "Sexy and I know it" by LMFAO. I actually have a techno CD where it seems every song is in that BPM and its great for cardio.0

I am looking for similar information.
What do you use to tell you the bpm of music you have in your library?
I was using the DJ Beatsmith (i think that is right, but I am too lazy to look it up) C25K and I get so blanked out by techno I miss the cues to speed up/slow down. >.<0 -
This is a great idea, I find it much easier to keep a consistent pace when I have music at the right tempo - otherwise it is easier to slow down if I'm not paying attention.
I started by picking a bunch of songs that I liked and listening to them while running until I found one that "clicked". Then I came home and worked out the BPM of that song (I have a program on my computer that analyses the BPM and adds into into iTunes) and started sorting my music around this beat.

Thanks! These suggestions are helpful...I will look into them!
Any other ideas about bpm MFP family?0 -
was this mentioned yet? a metronome measures beats, or more like keeps you on beat0

Running 5mph would be songs at 130bpm.
Jog.fm is an awesome site that will do the calculations for you and give you examples of songs.0 -

Hi, I have an iPhone and 2 apps that are good for this are tempo magic and easy 5k with jeff Galloway has a built in bpm to correspond with your step. I'm not sure if the same apps are available on blackberry or android you'd have to check it out. Happy running xx0
