Fat Bullying...

Today, I was on facebook and someone shared a photo of a really obese couple posing for a photo. It was an adorable pic of an adorable couple in my opinion. There were hundreds of comments that were just so disgusting and repulsive. I've never seen such bullying in my life! Just because you've got extra pounds on you, does not make you less of a person or less worthy of love! Fat=Skinny=perfect.

I see that a lot.
It hurts when your friends do it & you're overweight.
It makes you wonder what they're saying about you behind your back..
Oh well.
No one will ever really learn I guess.0 -
I do agree with you, I think it is very hateful.
People are equally as cruel to super skinny folk as well.
Sometimes, It really isn't by choice that people are the way they are. Certain illness can cause people to gain or lose weight rapidly, and unless we know those people and know their story, we shouldn't be judging them.
If people are happy how they are, then who are we to judge them?0 -
About a year or two after high school graduation, I had kept in contact with hs friends through fb and one friend who i was very close to posted a status about how fat people are gross and no one could ever love them and she didn't know how they didn't kill themselves. I immediately deleted her and we havent talked since. I just don't get it.0

I would have written a really nasty response back...but that's just me
Obviously a friend not worth keeping if that's how they speak of people0 -
I would hardly call someone my friend if they did that to one of my photos. How awful.
Honestly, I would have gotten snarky back. How awful.0 -
Yeah, people don't realize there are more overweight people than normal weight. And it is just skin really. Everyone is beautiful- size does not make or break beauty. If I had had someone say something negative about larger people, I would have given them a very pithy remark and never spoken/done business with them again.:devil:0

It is terrible that people feel like they can say cruel things about someone because they are overweight, as if that makes you less of a human being. I have been both fat and thin and I can say that people have treated me way better when I have been thin. I was the same person when I was thin and when i was fat, yet somehow I was more worthy of people's time once I lost weight. No one's worth should ever be judged based on the number on a scale.0

I personally treat extremely obese people and extremely fit people exactly the same... It makes literally zero difference to me if somebody has 70% bodyfat or 10% bodyfat...A person's weight is mostly a personal matter and I'd argue it's even more personal than things like a person's religion.... my conversation and the way I talk to them would be exactly the same...Treating them differently would just be an arbitrary form of discrimination...0

Personality counts, above all. And that's not just generic, PC rhetoric.
You can always lose weight and alter your appearance. You can never alter a truly ugly or evil personality.
(And to hell with Facebook.)0 -
I have friends who will say snide things about people they perceive as "fat" right in front of me. Often, these people are my size or smaller. It always makes me wonder if they just don't see my size, or if they do, and they talk behind me back. I figure that these are folks who call me to go out, so hopefully they're not talking behind my back (gah - that would be so weird - just stop inviting me out!), but I don't get it. Does it become ok to be "fat" if you're a friend?0
