Hey! I'm new here and after reading 'Wheat Belly' & numerous other scientific literature I will go wheat-free and, if I see progress, eventually grain free too (along with mostly sugar free, other than fruit)! Wondering if there's anyone else out here and with similar opinions/goals.

I'm studying for my masters in Europe for 2 years, originally from the states! 22 year old outdoor and animal lover. Looking for some more friends and support here on MFP!

Hope to hear from you
cheers
Karrie

  • Hey Im vegan and have trouble with wheat (it puffs me up) so cutting it out - I have 40lbs to loose :) xxx
  • I have Post Polio Syndrome and for some reason as the condition progressed i became Gluten and Dairy intolerant... I used to love crusty french bred and a nice ripe brie cheese... ah well

If you feel unwell with wheat products it would be better to have a blood test for coeliac disease before you start eliminating it from your diet... no good afterwards...

Because of my condition I aim for high proteins High fibre / low fat low carbs and the carbs I do haveI aim for low GI - don't always manage it though lol.

I must admit not being able to eat gluten foods does reduce the temptation... biscuits cake etc... not sure how you'd go without the awful consequences... perhaps just another strain in your self control...
perhaps important to work out what you believe you'll gain...
I wouldn't if I didn't have to grain give you vital nutrients etc...
Hope you can figure it out x De
  • I've been gluten/wheat free for about 6 months now, and I've lost over 15lbs by just avoiding grains. Plus I look and feel so much better without it, as it bloats me up, makes me tired and gives me rashes and dry skin.

Good luck sticking to it! It'll be worth it in the end.
  • I have Coeliac disease (cant eat any wheat or barley etc) and i have had this my whole life, since i was about 2.

Being on a gulten free diet I have found that I eat alot of chocOlate and drink alot of tea, i am tired all the time and have no will power, I have always been slightly more tired than everyone else, easly worn out etc, and find my self reaching for something sweet to give me energy, I don't no if by you giving up wheat etc, that you will feel the same affects as i do? But it is hard as i always want stodgy filling food as most of the things i eat do not make me feel full, therfore i always think i am hungrey.

    Hope this helps you xx
