attached to my food scale

I'll admit it. I am very attached to my food scale. I got this scale years ago at Bed, Bath, and Beyond (http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Stainless-Pull-Out-Display/dp/B000WJMTNA), and I LOVE it! I'm fanatical about weighing out portions, and I generally go by grams rather than ounces. It's so much easier! Instead of dirtying a tablespoon to measure 2 tbsp of sour cream, I put my plate on the scale and measure out 30g (also listed in serving size). I do this for anything that has gram measurements for the food.
And when cooking recipes, I normally weigh the pot/skillet before cooking the recipe and then subtract those grams from the entire cooked recipe in the pot/skillet - and then divide that number by the # of servings (to get grams per serving). It's a lot easier to subtract 1,058 grams from 3,584 grams than to subtract 1 lb 9 1/4 oz from 4 lb 4 7/8 oz. I don't know why the U.S. doesn't use the metric system! It's so much easier. It sounds complicated and maybe like too much work, but it seriously takes like 30 seconds, and then I know exactly how much a serving size is. Am I alone in doing this?
Having said that, my batteries started getting low in my scale the middle of last week, and when that happens, the numbers start changing on the scale without adding anything weight-wise. It goes all funky, and I couldn't get new batteries for 2 days. Talk about annoying... it was difficult for me to measure/weigh out my stuff with the numbers flip flopping back and forth while trying to add whatever on my plate. But it's fixed now, and I'm back to happy land. LOL

i LOVE my food scale!!! It's amazing how much an oz of food really is. For instance, I used to think that an ounce of cheese was NOTHING, and would pile it on my salads! Now, I measured out an oz of cheese for a salad, and it seemed that was what most of my salad was :-P I only use 1/2 oz of cheese now. But yeah, my food scale is amazing...I couldn't live without it right now.0

I use my food scale for everything. Best $30 I have ever spent! My husband even named my scale. Her name is Sally. Ha!0
