Making mine too - off the top of my head, just used the last of my fresh spinach in a smoothie, so SPINACH at the top of my list! And baby carrots, almost out of greek yogurt, popcorn (not the microwave stuff, I micro my own in a paper bag - no additives but what I put in!), bananas, pork tenderloin, some fish....

    Does that help?

    Oh, and sweet potatoes!

I LOVE butternut squash. Cube it and roast it with some salt and pepper. SOOOOO good. I always grab frozen veggies. They store easily and last longer than fresh. The taste to me is the same.

Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are also a must just because you can do so many things with chicken.

For the sweet fix, I use bananas, or mini chocolate chips and peanut butter on top of a wheat thins cracker.

Yeah right now I am broke and can't buy any groceries for about another week. But what I love is I have this app on android that helps me sort my groceries in an organized fashion, because when I go to the store I get sidetracked if I don't have a list! lol. I would say chicken, ground turkey, fish, also lots of vegetables on hand, even some frozen. However, I prefer fresh. i am also out of pistachio nuts, etc.

Every week I make a lentil, black bean, red pepper and celery salad. It's a staple because I can add any left over meat that I have from dinner and have it for lunch. It's also a great source of protein on it's own so no meat is required.

Here are my 10 essentials: (not in any particular order)

    1. Lentils (for salad)
    2. Black Beans (for hummus or salad)
    3. Chickpeas (for hummus or salad)
    4. Kale (stuffed in chicken breasts, or sauteed separately)
    5. Lots of onions
    6. Acorn squash (I cut it in half, bake it and stuff it with goat cheese, kale, peppers, onions, garlic and barley)
    7. Carrots and Celery for sticks for snacks during the day
    8. Oats (I add a tsp of honey and some fresh fruit, then just enough water to cover it for oatmeal in the AM)
    9. Yogurt
    10. Any kind of fruit that's in season

Good luck with shopping! and have fun!

Also when you are looking for a sweet fix the fruit crisps are delicious and only 100 calories for two bars I like to share a package with my partner who is also dieting.

If you like beef jerky, you'll be pleasantly surprised by this one.

Jack Link's jerky, 3.25oz bags (which is the perfect size for a snack) has 1 serving per bag and ranges from 60 calories for the Chicken Nuggets to about 90 calories for the beef jerky flavors.

High in protein, low in fat and tasty! Thanks to my sweet husband for turning me on to these!

I actually got some turkey jerky when I was out today. It wasn't my real grocery shopping trip, but I wll be adding it to my list! My mom has already "fussed" about my protein in this post! ;) So I am chewing on 15 g of protein as I type!

Thanks EVERYONE! Keep the ideas coming!
