I have a hard time with sweets too. After seeing a bunch of suggestions about this, I ended up getting some Weight Watchers Chocolate Raspberry ice cream bars. They're soooo good and only 80 calories each. They usually help with my chocolate cravings. There are tons of other flavors in that brand and also Skinny Cow and they aren't so bad calorie-wise. Good luck!
Blue bunny has these as well and they are fantastic. Nice thing is.............they don't leave you feeling like you want more.0 -
3-2-1 cake. Take the dry ingredients from a box of angel food cake. Take the dry ingredients from any other cake mix you like. Mix them together and store in a ziploc-type bag. When ready for a "piece" of cake, here comes the 3-2-1 part:
Take 3 TBSP of cake mix
Take 2 TBSP of water
Mix them in a coffee cup
Put them in the microwave for 1 minute
You have a delicious piece of cake, very satisfying for my sweet tooth, and no leftover cake. You can also top as "needed."
42 calories.
Enjoy.
^^
This is NOT 42 calories. If you read the original thread (OK, really, really long) .... most people came up with 110 calories
Use diet soda instead it tastes much better!0 -
That is a great idea! Thanks0

dark chocolate cures mine! One square of ghirardelli dark chocolate raspberry squares keeps me from wanting to eat everything sweet.0

I LOOOOOVE Grilled FRESH pineapple. Buy the real thing.. cut it yourself, and cut it! Great with some homemade whip cream with a touch of vanilla.0

A graham cracker spread low fat or fat free whipped crème cheese and sugar free strawberry jam on top of it. Tastes like a cheese cake with less than 100 calories.0

Turkey Hill Frozen Yogurt - they have a few flavors but they are all either low-fat (1g) or non-fat. 68 grams a serving is either 90 calories or 110. My favorite flavors are mint cookies 'n cream and chocolate marshmallow.0

I had to go all but cold-turkey, but that's because I was literally eating sweets 2 or 3 times a day (or more!). It took about a month for me to stop craving sweets.
I still love and allow myself chocolate most weeks, but I keep it in the freezer, and I take out my portion (1 square or 10 chocolate chips) and set it on the counter to warm up about 20 minutes. It keeps me from eating the whole bar. If there's chocolate at work and I want some, I bring it back to my desk and put it in the drawer for later. Most of the time, the craving passes and I forget about it.
Once I broke the "addiction" I stopped demonizing it and hating myself for having sweets occasionally, as long as I'm honest that it's really only every now and then.0 -
Here's my list..
If I want this... I eat this instead...
1. Apple Pie - Peel and core an apple, sautee in a bit of brown sugar (1 tsp or less, 15 cals) and a dash cinnamon.
2. Chocolate cake - Low cal chocolate puddings, a low fat brownie (like No Pudge Fudge brownie mix)
3. Cheesecake - Frozen vanilla yogurt with graham cracker dust with fruit of my choosing
Otherwise my list of "approved" sweets include...
1. Whole grain waffle (Van's, 80 cals per waffle) with a drizzle of agave syrup or a teaspoon of some yummy vanilla ice cream slathered on top.
2. Cup of sliced fruit
3. Special K with red berries cereal
4. Smoothie with almond milk
5. Low fat chocolate milk (Horizon organics is Ah-may-zing!)
6. A hershey's kiss (30 cals)
Lots of options, but what helped me get over the sugar cravings was NOT reaching for some high sugar food/snack when I did get the cravings and going for a natural sugar (like fruits). You need to start breaking your body's taste for it. Now I can't stand sodas and super sugary desserts because it's just overwhelming.0 -
I would just get that sucker pulled.0

I must have a sweet after dinner. My treat is a big bowl of fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or peaches with light reddi whip. It does it for me and it's filling. For me about 150-200 calories depending on how big a bowl….and how much whip I add.0

Sugar free jello with sugar free cool whip. Mix it all up and it feels like you're eating a fluffy dessert! MMMMMMMMM0

Honestly, the best way to curb a sweet tooth is to stay away from sugar and artificial sweeteners. I used to eat a lot of fruits and sweet foods that made me crave more sugar. Artificial sweeteners make your cravings even worse. Eat a minimal amount of sugar per day, and your cravings will stop. Drink water whenever you want something sweet. Have food with cinnamon to regulate your blood sugar whenever you need to. When you eat sugar your brain tells you to eat more of it. When you eat artificial sweeteners your brain thinks it will have something sweet soon, so you may eat something with no sugar, but you'll probably end up reaching for sugar later on anyway. The moment I cut sugar out of my diet, it became incredibly easy to stick to my diet. I never have cravings for anything anymore and I feel incredibly healthy.0

#1 on the first list sounds good and easy to make. I just might make that tonight.0 -
Caramel rice cakes and only 50 calories.0

One thing I forgot about!
Two graham cracker squares & a scoop of cool whip, make a sandwich and stick in the freezer. An awesome addition is to spread some chocolate or some nutella on the cracker before making the sandwich. These are so delicious and satisfying!0 -
One more thing…OMG chocolate sorbet. Super low cal. Super chocolatey. Safeway makes one that tastes like frozen dark chocolate. Someone else figured it out because our local store is now always sold out.0

It's SUPER easy. I never feel guilty because it's still fruit and it literally tastes like apple pie without the crust. I guess you could crumble a graham cracker over it if you were inclined, but it's good enough on it's own for me.0 -
(No sugar!) Cookie Dough Dip
It’s gluten-free, too.
■1 1/2 cups chickpeas (1 can, drained) (250g)
■heaping 1/8 tsp salt
■tiny bit over 1/8 tsp baking soda
■1 T plus 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
■1/4 cup nut butter (You can get away with using only 3 T. If you use peanut butter, some people say it has a slight “pb cookie dough” taste, so you can sub oil if you don’t want that.)
■1 and 1/4 cup pitted dates (I used SunMaid, from a regular grocery store)
■1/3 cup chocolate chips (see link below, for sugar-free option)
■2 T oats (You can omit)
■nondairy milk as needed (depending on the consistency you want. I used a few T.)
In a bowl, cover the dates with 1/2 cup water. Let this sit for at least 8 hours. Then add all ingredients (including the dates’ soaking liquid), except chocolate chips, to a food processor and blend until very smooth.
If you wish, you can use: Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips.
This can be served as a dessert dip, as a spread (maybe in between apple slices or crackers?), eaten with a spoon, mixed into oatmeal, stuffed into cupcakes, or even used to top pancakes!0 -
If I really want ice cream I eat skinny cow ice-cream or some low fat ice-cream.Also I have become addicted to Kashi TLC dark chocolate cookies. They are pretty big and have decent amount of fiber. Or I LOVE Fage no fat greek yogurt with honey!0

Didn't read all the posts, so if someone else already mentioned this, sorry for the repeat. Every now and then I will make a 3-2-1 cake. One serving is only 42 calories, and it usually hits the spot for me. You take a box of angel food cake mix and then a box of any other you like and mix those together. Then in a small pryex type dish, you put in 3 tbsp of the cake mix, 2 tbsp of water, stir it up and microwave it for 1 minute. Very quick, very easy, and good!!
You can use any flavor cake mix you like, but one of the mixes HAS to be the angel food cake mix.0 -
I have the same problem and I started making myself have two servings of fruit per day. Now whenever I get that sweet craving I head straight for some berries. Hope that helps!0
