Hi everyone...

I hope it is ok for me to post here, I have not before.
I have been trying to do a daily 20 minutes on my cross trainer and today it broke :-(
I have 2 small children, the older of the two is a nightmare when out so I do not go out everyday so I need indoor exercises that will be ok to do around them.
I was thinking running up and down the stairs?
I don't count housework in this, I just like to have 20 minutes of me pushing myself with exercise.
Any suggestions would be great :-)

If you have Netflix, there are a lot of streaming videos.

YouTube also has lots of exercise video.

You can check out DVDs from your library.

Yeah I have tons of yoga, pilates and even a t'ai chi video for when I can't leave the house. Books and dvd's are the most helpful thing when you find yourself stuck at home.

Stairs are a great workout. For cardio and a little muscle. Just make sure you push yourself! :)

All of the above. plus jump on and off a step, jump rope, jumping jacks, squat thrusts, jump shots...all are great...do them in HIIT, every 60 seconds switch it up, after you do all 5, take a min or 2 to rest, do the circuit again, rest and do it again, rest and do it one more time...

Also, try and take your children out, you are the parent, they will listen if you enforce rules...it will be hard at first, but you don't want to be a prisioner in your own home with a child as your warden...if you don't start now it will not get easier as they get older...just a few minutes at first, establish the "rules of the road" with a reward for good behavior...
  • DVDs or Netflix. Jillian Michaels DVDs (like the 30 day shred) are only about 24 minutes each and highly effective :)
  • Thank you all for all the great replies! Me and my partner have been looking at our funds and we will also be able to go to a gym when the kids are with grandparents. Will definitely be doing some home exercises suggested too :-)
