Fat Day...

I'm having a fat day, where I feel guilty because I spoiled myself on my weekend vacation... I look in the mirror and all I can see are rolls, instead of focussing on my toned legs. I've lost motivation to work out as hard as I have, I make excuses for myself to stop.
I've got to this point before, and I just feel like giving up is the next step, and I'm scared, to be totally honest. I need your help.
I refuse to stay fat, and I refuse to let today's bad mood change my positive outlook.
I'm just scared that I know what's coming, because I deserve better.

you're almost one third of the way to your goal. that's pretty damn impressive. are you really going to let one weekend ruin that for you? did you gain back 21 pounds this weekend? did you put on more than you've even lost? did you hate yourself every second of the weekend? i'm guessing no to all of the above. cut yourself some slack and know that you're worth fighting for. and you do deserve better.

Hang in there! Everyone has a fat day! I also fall into absolutely hating myself on "fat days" and getting really discouraged so I know what you mean. But the important thing to remember is that this whole thing isn't a race and you can't change absolutely everything overnight. I always tell myself "this time next year..." on bad days to remind myself that it's not about the few days I mess up or indulge myself- it's about getting back on track and adding up all of the other days that I try my best so that by "this time next year" I'll be the healthy person I want to be. Try not to dwell on it (even though I know it's hard) and just resolve to do better tomorrow. :happy:0

Hang in there... you're not the only one who has a fat day once in awhile. Look at how far you've come! Force yourself to get back in the saddle, and before you know it your motivation will soon come back.0

I recently read about this article (http://www.spring.org.uk/2011/03/the-what-the-hell-effect.php) about "Fat Days," and I thought you might find it interesting. It talks about the "what the hell effect," which means when someone "cheats" on their diet, they tend to say "What the hell, I might as well eat a bunch more cookies and skip the workout, since I already screwed up." Then they make their minor screw-up much more damaging than it otherwise would have been.
Now that I read that article, I try to catch myself when I find myself doing it. A few days ago, I went way over my calorie limit...too many margaritas, some candied waffles...but then I thought, "Wait, no, don't make it worse by eating ice cream. It's not like since it's broken, you have to break it more. Just stop now, skip the ice cream, and do a little better tomorrow."
You can do it! Just think that the extra calories you consumed on your vacation were fueling you up for a great workout later. :-)0 -
I know how you are feeling. We all have days where we want to chuck it all. I just keep telling myself that I can do anything for one more day. Just get through the day in front of me. Its the same with working out...I can do anything for 10 more minutes and then 10 more. When I feel myself getting out of hand or in the mood to eat everything in sight I do what I did to my kids...I put myself in timeout. It's enough of a pause to get the fear, fury and funk out of my system. Hang in there you CAN do this.0

Don't let one day (or weekend) get you down. You deserve to enjoy life a bit... The important thing is that you don't let those days turn in to weeks and months - that's how you get it trouble. Surely you have not un-done all of your hard work in just two days. Don't give up now - just get right back on track, and after a hard workout and a day or two eating healthy again, you will get back your enthusiasm and motivation! Hang in there! ((hugs))...0
