In your opinion, which is a better gaming laptop: Alienware or Asus Republic of Gamers? I am leaning towards Asus.

Specs and link would help0

Asus. Hands down.
Alienware is known for poor and inadequate speakers. Wait, are you going to use this for gaming? Why not get a desktop?0 -
Asus. Hands down.
I DO love my asus tablet!0 -
Asus.
Dell or somebody bought Alienware a few years back. They've not been the same since. EVERYTHING I've seen by Asus has been reliable so far.

I would also go with the Asus. Its a better deal.0

You called. I came.
Specs would help but I have some ideas that would help the decision making process.
Some of the ASUS machines now come configured with a dual boot linux/Win 7 configuration. I don't think Dell does this. If you boot to linux and all your doing is browsing the web, your battery life is gonna be something amazing (like 9-10 hours). Personally, I like to have that option. I don't think Alienware does that right now.... at least not out of the box.
Min specs for decent gaming:
Intel I5/I7 processor (I5 used to be cheaper and give about the same/better gaming performance as I7)
6GB of RAM <--- some people will say 4GB, but I prefer 12-16GB on a desktop.
SSD for the operating system <--- much faster disc access but maxes out at about 120GB capacity before it gets too expensive.
Wireless N
HDMI Out (cuz I like to play on the big screen sometimes)
And a kick *kitten* mobile graphics card. Someone else has to fill in that blank for you as I no longer know what's considered kick *kitten* in that area.
Don't expect a decent gaming rig from an ultrabook. I like the idea for travel... but not for gaming.0 -
For gaming, desktop is always superior, but out of these two laptops, Asus is a more powerful machine.0

Just saw the links from the update.
I'd go with the Asus. Better specs. That thing is gonna be uber heavy to carry.0 -
I currently have an Asus ROG System board in my desktop. I am an Asus fan. They do have top notch quality.0

I just looked at the links The Asus system is hands down the better system. Way more for the money0

Don't even think about Alienware.... Dell turned them into pure junk... We purchased 15 laptops 4-5 years ago.... great machines went back last year and bought 1 the pure quality of the components was just not the same0

ASUS! And I highly recommend a desk top as you can interchange parts like video cards, processors, ram and won't have so many heating issues. Plus gaming on a laptop is awful when you are sitting on the couch with no mouse. Ick!0
