There was an article that I was reading the other night on Dr. Oz website that you should eat only 20 gms of fat and 100 gms of carbs a day along with your reduced calories depending on teh size you wanted to weigh. Well my MFP allowances for fat and carbs are wayyyy more than that. Does anyone else know what is the right calculations to follow? Also it said 1500 sodium. Just want to get it right..

UGH. Dr. Oz makes me want to poke his eyes out. I know many people on MFP love him but from what I have found, he gives out blanket one-size-fits-all crappy dietary advice. Dr Oz also says you should snack on nuts, meaning you will likely go over that 20 grams of fat in a day. There is no consistency with his advice and I think he is full of it so I would ignore his 20 g of fat a day advice, as I believe most nutritionists would as well. It is a 1980s mentality to think that fat makes you fat.

    Sorry. Rant over.

Thanks I appreciate the truth. Okay so I have another question for you. MFP says I should eat 1200 cals a day I thought that wasn't enough so I put my goal at 1400 cals a day. But since i workout about 50 mins a day and burn about 300-400 cals it always says my daily goal is 1700-1800. I can't eat that much in a day on my current diet should i increase my calories to make sure I meet my daily goal or just leave it alone. I have experience some success in teh past 4 weeks but I don't want my body to get use to this and stop performing for me. Thanks again.

Those 300-400 calories you earn through exercise are what people on MFP refer to as your "exercise calories." There is a huge debate on whether or not to eat them back. Some people eat them all back, some people eat half of them back, some people eat none back. Try and eat some back, as having a good calorie burn like that needs to be fueled and if you are anything like me, 1400 calories won't cut it on big workout days. Honestly though, if I am not hungry, I don't eat them back. Try and listen to your body and if you are hungry, by all means eat them back.
