No one here is going to be able to answer this for you with any sort of accuracy, especially given the paucity of information. BMR is an estimation at the best of times, and if you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism then you are by definition an outlier; your numbers are going to stray very far from normal statistics.
This is a discussion you should be having with your doctor.0 -
I am not sure why you would need to subtract anything from your BMR. Once you are on meds, your thyroid will function like it is suppose to. Have been on thyroid meds for 25 years now.0

Let me rephrase that a little: BMR calculators give you an estimation at the best of time. Your doctor can (depending on the equipment he has available) either accurately determine your BMR or send you someplace that can.0

I am hypo and I haven't adjusted anything on MFP and am still losing. However, I am on meds and my levels are balanced...Once you get 'balanced' you should be fine.0

I agree with mkath4 - once you've started meds and have the right levels, your BMR should be the same as if you had normal thyroid function.0

Curious, A friend of mine was diagnosed with this recently, are you a vegetarian? I asked because I discovered how badly soy is for you (one of the causes of hypothyroidism):

I have never heard of soy being a cause. Mine is genetic. Both my parents are hypothyroid, my sister, and just recently my 10 year old son was diagnoised with it.0

Yeah, I'm a vegetarian but I doubt its soy related....
And thank you for the replies! I didnt know the medication would make everything normal but its great that it will!0 -
Are you on medication? If not ask your doctor if you should be.0

I am on armour thyroid..and didnt adjust anything from my BMR..and I am at goal weight..0

You will feel much better once you are on it. Your doc may start you on a lower dose then up you depending on your lab work. I get lab work done once a year to make sure my levels are where they are suppose to be. I have not needed my dosage adjusted in the last 20 years or so. It is something you have to take every day. If I forget, I do seem to get tired at the end of the day.0
