Afternoon Crash

Does anyone else crash in the afternoon?
It doesn't matter how much sleep I get the night before, what I eat during the day, or how much caffeine I do or do not consume. By 2:30 or 3 each day I just want to curl into a ball and sleep.
Anyone have this happen to them and have tips for waking up in the afternoon?
Thanks guys!

How about a 20 min power nap? It does help especially since I am up at 545 AM M-F.0

I can't see your diary but are you eating high sugar lunches? Being that sleepy is a strong sign of a blood glucose spike caused by eating too many carbs in one shot.
Have your doc check you for diabetes and thyroid problems. If it continues, also consider getting a sleep apnea test.
Hope that helps!0 -
I wish but I don't have the opportunity to do that at work. I could maybe in my car in the summer.0

Nope. Eat pretty low sugar and I eat low carb.
Funny you should mention that though. I did get a blood test for some other reasons. I find out the results tomorrow. I am suspecting low thyroid or low iron, which would explain the sleepiness.
Right now I would just love it if I could wake myself up....you know...other than banging my head off my desk when I fall asleep. :laugh:0 -
I'd love some suggestions too. I can't nap during the day. Schedule won't allow it. I've tried the suggested...cottage cheese, oatmeal with some peanut butter. i end up drinking coffee and just being tired with the jitters.0

You might be eating too little in terms of calories. I did that ( I ate 1200 as MFP recommended). It was way too little to maintain my metabolism and always felt drowsy and sleepy in the middle of the day. Now after increasing my calorie intake to 1600, I feel a whole lot better and no drowsy periods at all! But remember, just os you have that increase in the calorie intake, you still need to eat healthy and clean.0

Come to think of it, this used to be a big problem of mine. The last couple weeks I've been eating a lot more protein in the form of shakes/bars for breakfast and lunch, and no problem at all. It also helps to do a quick walk during your break.0
