Super Bowl = Not diet friendly

Ok I'm going to a super bowl party this weekend and I'm having a hard time finding a low calorie drink option. Does anyone know any low calorie beers or mix drinks that wont be hard on the hips and I wont have to spend the whole day working out to recover. I'm not that picky when it comes to mix drinks but I'm not a big fan of some beers.

Any alcoholic drink is going to be empty calories, every gram of alcohol = 7 calories. Your best bet to keep calorie counts low is to go for low alcoholic strength drinks. MGD64 has, unsurprisingly, 64 calories and to my knowledge is the lowest calorie beer on the market. For mixed drinks, most of your common 80 proof drinks have about 65 calories per ounce plus a mixer (so go with diet).

On the other hand, it's a party. Live a little. :-)

My go-to drink is Malibu rum and diet coke. Still tastes tropical and sweet and it's only about 80 cals for 1oz of the alcohol. I make it last longer by pouring a tall glass or drinking a water in between each cocktail i have.

who says you have to drink alcohol? if you like ginger try making ginger beer. if you have to drink alcohol, i'd go with the liquor options and use seltzer as a mix. vodka, seltzer and muddled limes is good. so is a good gin like hendrick's with tonic.

I think it will be best if I say away from beer this weekend. But football and beer just go together :) I love guiness, blue moon honeymoon, strongbow and MGD. :( I think i'll try a vodka and diet cranberry juice. Or make it with MIO which is 0 calories and the only calories I'm getting is from the alcohol. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

What is the lowest calorie hard liquior?
  • - Light beers (anything with the world light after it has about 110 calories per bottle)
    - MGD64 has 64 calories per bottle
    - Bud Select has 55 caloires per bottle but also have a much lower alcohol content so you may actually end up drinking more
    - liquor (usually about 65 calories a shot) with a diet, 0 calorie mixer

I drink captain and monster absolutely zero (i use lots of ice and measure out one shot and fill the rest with monster). This is about 65 calories a drink and I LOVE the taste. I also like the energy drink with it because it doesn't leave me so tired throughout the day (however, some people don't like to mix energy drink & alcohol) Also, remember it is only ONE day, have fun!

I know this but I just finished breast feeding and haven't had a drink in a year and half. I think I should be aloud at least one drink.

Budweiser has Bud 55 which has 55 calories and 2 carbs, MGD 64 is better so id go with that though. Normally I do Diet Vodka or Diet Whiskey just enjoy yourself one day wont kill ya
  • Clear is almost always lower in calories. I unfortunately enjoy Guinness and Smithwicks beer which are about 300 calories per pint. It is a party and you can always have 1 splurge item a couple times a week. I really like malibu coconut rum with a diet strawberry limeade from Sonic. The sonic drink is under 20 calories the rum is around 55 calories per ounce. Good Luck!

I usually drink Malibu rum with Diet Coke; however, I'm headed to my boss's house this weekend, and am definitely making sugar-free Jell-O shots. :drinker:

Its funny you posted this! I just went out and discovered the skinny girl line of drinks. I ended up getting the skinny girl white cranberry cosmo. I bought the ocean spray diet cranberry pomegrante juice to mix with it! The whole cocktail is only 105 calories! Yummy!
  • This may be a little late, but I got this from a girl at work: make up a pitcher of Crystal Light Lemonade and mix it with a shot of Patron Silver (69 cal/oz/livestrong.com). She calls them "Skinny-Ritas." :)
  • Diet Tonic and Gin with a wedge of lime is delicious! It helps me to bring or order a glass of dry red wine.... its still delicious, has some actually decent health benefits, and I drink a glass of wine WAY slower than a blue moon.

Thank you to everyone who posted. Your all awesome. I can't wait for the party this weekend. For once I'm not dreading a party because I'm going to blow all my hard work. I can go prepared!

This is a good Idea! I might still do this with the Diet Cranberry juice I bought. I don't plan on drinking a ton this day but a slight buzz can't hurt once in awhile :)

Actually, Budweiser makes a 55 calorie beer :) I found it like 2 weeks ago. Add a small lime wedge and it's pretty good, It's no Dos Equis Lager..but it does the trick.

Crystal light is always great when adding in the hard stuff.

I love making a piture of the lemonade crystal light with vodka (however much you want/require) and about half a cup frozen blueberries. SO GOOD and the blueberries keep it cold and make it look pretty.

Move to Australia - then you don't have any Super Bowl problems :)
Grand final day in September might be a issue though....

If I want to have a few drinks, I usually have pure blonde (because it's lower call not because it's low carb) and alternate between beer and unflavored soda water - the soda is great because it's fizzy and with some ice and a slice of lemon it looks like an alcoholic drink so other people don't make a fuss!

IMO One drink and some pigging out one day won't hurt (unless it will throw you off track)
  • Vodka with soda water and a lime! :) I don't see diet tonic as often as I see plain ol' soda water though.

Considering there is a specific form of entertainment -- the game! -- I've never found this or any specific events to be big temptations for drinking too much. But that's just me. I tend to drink more when I'm out for a long time but bored.

I love using frozen fruit like Ice! Great Idea.

This link has a list of the calories of many types of liquor:

As for me: I love vanilla vodka and seltzer with a lime. I think its around 100cals

This, but with that Lime Margarita flavor the Wal-Mart brand makes. Dangerous!

Also, Tangueray Rangpur + diet sprite + frozen fruit instead of ice = epic debauchery.
