"Soul Train" Creator Don Cornelius Dead in Apparent Suicide

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. (KTLA) -- Don Cornelius, who created the show "Soul Train," was found dead at his Sherman Oaks home Wednesday morning in an apparent suicide, the LAPD confirms.

Police found Cornelius' body around 4 a.m. at his home in the 12600 block of Mulholland Drive.

He was taken Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Cornelius, 75, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to law enforcement sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
