Food is Not the Enemy!

Why am I posting this? I am posting it because I am so tired of seeing people giving virtual high fives, congrats, and kudos to people for eating next to nothing or for staying below a certain number, although their entire diary consists of fast food and other assorted junk. As it says in the post...... food, itself, is not the enemy. This is not a contest, or at least shouldn't be, to see who has the lowest net value of cals at the end of the day. This is a journey to health and fitness. Overindulgence is the enemy. Eating all the wrong crap day after day is the enemy. WE are our own enemies. A Twinkie doesn't suddenly become good for you because you ran a mile or two.
And I will never write "good job" or anything of that sort on anyone's post, when they are under a healthy calorie intake. How is that good? I can starve myself, too.

Something to consider........ Why is Weight Watchers the most successful diet plan in existence year after year? It's because it teaches you to eat right and to eat healthy and in the proper proportions. I feel like that tends to very easily get lost here. Be very careful if you are working out to be able to eat the same junk you ate before. One small injury or change in lifestyle that takes you from that high cal burn and that weight will come right back on, if you have not learned to eat the right portions of healthy foods.

Oh....... to all those who are going to write that you have the rite to eat trash. You also have the rite to be fat. But, don't complain that you are not losing the weight you want. And....to those who complain that its once in while....etc..... of course that is not what this post is about. Everything in moderation. We all have our treats. And to the rest who just get pissed at my post..... don't read them anymore.

And I am now dismounting my soapbox and returning you to your regularly scheduled programs. ;)

Nicely put Helice. I agree 100%. It is all about eating the "right" kinds of foods and of course in moderation. I don't know if you know this, but i almost always put "nice logging" in people's diary I rarely put "nice Job" unless i feel that they ate properly. but i put something, just to make them feel good about their day.

Shoot i don't eat right some of the time and people put on my diary "excellent day" i'm saying to myself, are they really reading my diary or are they just bs'ing me, but i look at this way, they took 2 seconds out of their day to comment...right!?!?!?! So it's all good.

I hear ya' on that. I will sometimes put nice logging, too. But if it's the same stuff day after day, I eventually just stop or I comment on good choices I see. I don't think it's helpful to write great job, etc, on people's diaries who are starving themselves or eating just junk.

after reading your post, you skeered me into eating raw carrots and hommus. hahahahahaha!!!!!!
  • Your assessment of weight watchers is completely wrong. Weight watchers is counting calories just put into a different system. Nothin wrong with eating "junk" as u call it as long as its done in moderation. I can get just as fat eating "healthy" food as I can junk food. Its all about calories in vs calories out in terms of weight loss/management

YOU are right about weight watchers. You can eat whatever junk you like as long as it fits into your "points system".

He didn't say that. Had he said that you could eat whatever you want on WW, I would have agreed. Read again... he said it is just counting calories, which it is not. Of course you can eat anything you want but compare 100 cals of veggies or fresh fruit to 100 cals of cake or fried food and see if you get the same points value. If you do (which you won't), it would be based solely on cals in vs cals out. It doesn't and it isn't. it's about learning to eat healthy. This doesn't mean that eating junk isn't ok now and then. Of course it is in moderation. But, you show me the people who ate all junk, reduced their cals, lost weight AND KEPT IT OFF for any length of time.
