colonoscopy prep--low fiber

In preparation for a colonoscopy on Fri, I just completed 2 days with almost no veggies or fiber. I usually eat a a lot of veggies and about 30 g of fiber and I can't believe how much hungrier I was without them.

Tomorrow is nothing but clear liquids--yuck. Any ideas besides broth and jello?

Not sure what prep you will drink but the kind I had tasted salty and I was in the bathroom so much, I really didn't get hungry. I just had some Gatorade nearby. Good luck with your procedure.

Docs usually allow it when you're restricted to liquids. Ask a doc.

If you have to drink magnesium citrate, it takes much better if you mix it will apple juice. Otherwise it is hard to gag down.

Nope, that's pretty much all you can have.... broth, jello, non-dairy drinks.... oh, and popsicles.

Is this your first? I go in for my....um 6th or 7th in a month. Never fun

My doctor gave me a script for a product called, Half Go lightly and it did not have a taste to it, tasted like water, so not so bad.

Thank you. I don't like Gatorade but maybe some sparkling cider would be ok--apple juice is on the list.

Honey be happy its not the yucky drink. I had a colinoscopy back in oct (not my first) and they gave me the drink. It makes your body flush everything out. I wish my doctor would let me do it your way. But, lemon- lime jello is good and knox has their favor cubes out. They taste better than wylers. Either way you go, lots and lots of water. It will help curb the hunger. Good luck!

I think it's my 3rd, supposed to do it every 5 years because my Dad had colon cancer. Popsicles are a good idea-thanks.

Lemon ice is also allowed ... thats not too bad.
Chicken and beef broth arent too bad either. Juice as long as it is apple, no red juices!
I have had 3 of them ... only when I do it its 5 days of clear liquids and 2 gallons of the go-lytely. I ultimately ended up a colon removal ... so now I never have to do it again! :)

Good luck ... you can do this!
