Kinect Games & Weight Loss

I'm debating between 3 'games' for Kinect: Zumba, Biggest Loser, or UFC Personal Trainer. Any insight on these or how have they worked (or not) for you?? Just would like to hear suggestions, or maybe other games that work before I spend my money.

Replies

  • I just got the biggest loser one and I really like it.
The menus are a pain to navigate as the kinect sensor seems to jump about more than on any other games I have. But once you get to the actual work out it is great.
You can choose the intensity of the work out, how many times you want to work out a week and it schedules the work outs and other challenges as well as lets you do free play and choosing whatever work out you like.
  • i have the biggest loser, but to be honest i couldn't be bothered to navigate the menu. it's so terrible.
i do have my shape fitness evolved 2012 and i absolutely love it. i am on day 2 using dlc from christmas and i am so sore already!

Using a combination of The Biggest Loser and Your Shape last year, I went down a dress size (and a bit) in 43 days.

Last week, I started using Kinect again after a long time not doing. I've been getting back into Your Shape, and I plan to bring the Biggest Loser back in again starting next week. They're fantastic as far as I'm concerned - highly recommend both games.

I heard UFC trainer was not so good and poor tracking ability of your movements. I love the biggest loser though.

I have most of the workout games but find the down time between each section aggravating. I love Dance Central and Just Dance 3! They're both a great workout and my girls can play along.
  • I have zumba for kinect, but I prefer to do the dvds... I feel like the game is a little too slow paced for me!

LOVE DANCE CENTRAL!!! If you haven't gotten it, you definitely should... it's so much fun! ;D

I've been using Kinect Sports Seasons 1 & 2 to help me lose weight. As well as Yourshape Fitness evolved.

All are good games, and found that Sports Season 1 was a fun way to lose it :-)

I have been using Your Shape FItness Evolved and LOVE it! In 15 days I lost 3 lbs. & 3 in. I like how you can track your progress online and set goals for yourself or challenge your friends. I love how I can choosed from so many different workouts. I have also used UFC Trainer. I didn't have any problems with the tracking on it. The first day I did it my abs were so sore it hurt to laugh so it must have been doing something right. I had only rented the game and think that the $60 price tag is a little high so YSFE is a better buy.

I haven't even heard of Your Shape... hmmm, another to debate on lol.. I think UFC is down to $30, on Amazon?? Kind of debating on Kinect, seems like I keep reading about tracking problems. But I need something for the weekends (local free gym isn't open on weekends and only til 7:30 at nite).

I don't have the Kinect but I have a Wii. When I can't get to the gym, I will do my Zumba game at home. I track my calories burned via HRM watch and you definitely will burn some calories if you aren't stiff!! lol

I totally agree! I have zumba for kinect as well, and I'm not a big fan. I've never used the dvds but I go to classes at lest twice a week at my gym and the game seemed like I wasn't getting a very good workout. I would try one of the other ones.

I have Zumba and it is just okay. There is a new Zumba kinect game coming out Zumba Fitness. It is suppose to be better than the first.
  • I haven't used those three games you mentioned, but when I started my weight loss journey, I tried out Kinect Sports. Pretty fun stuff, surprisingly the boxing one made me the most sore!! Dance Central is great too but a little diffcult for me :P.

I have both Fitness evolved 2011 and The biggest loser. I like them both. I have a hard time with setting up the Biggest Loser one but once I get it its fun. I want to get Jillian Micaels new Kinect game that is out or will be coming out.

I have Zumba fitness, Your Shape and EA Sports Active Personal Trainer 2... I love all 3 of these for a good sweat session, but Personal Trainer is probably the best workout.
  • I'm debating between the Biggest Loser and Your Shape Fitness Evolved, BL is only $20 whereas YSFE is $60... so I'm torn. But I do have Just Dance 3 and it's good times! I enjoyed doing that in the first couple weeks of starting on here. I just started P90 but want to also do some JD3 as well. But I do want to get BL or YSFE.
  • Me and my wife are currently using YourShape 2012 and we both love it! Been using it for four weeks and have both lost about 13 pounds so far. My wife also likes to mix in Dance Central some as it gives her some variety and she has a blast playing it. I'm a white boy, I can't dance and I know it. :-)

YourShape Fitness Evolved 2012 is really good! I like it better than the original one.
  • Hi,
I just recently got Xbox with Kinect and have tried two games: Jillian Michaels Adventure & Your Shape 2012. JM Adventure was definitely a good work out and I was really sore the next day but not very fun at all. Sometimes the sensor didn’t count my squats which won’t allow you to continue in the game. So you’re just stuck there squatting and squatting: / I barrowed it from my sister and don’t think I’ll be buying it.
I also just purchased Your Shape 2012 on Amazon for about $30 bucks. I tried it last night and wasn’t impressed with the dance classes (Latin & Hip hop) but did like the personal training sections. The great thing about this game is that it has so much to choose from. (Personal training, dance, & games) Check out the reviews online and it will give you more of an idea.
I also rented Just Dance 3 I think it’s called and that was fun & I got a good workout.
    Hope this helps

I'm starting to lean towards the Your Shape. Me and squats don't really get along so I don't wanna get stuck in a game that doesn't count them lol. I'll probably get two, and Just Dance sounds like fun and something my kids would have fun with too, instead of MW3 and PSP and the ipods :(

I love Sports 1 and 2...boxing is a blast, track and field gets your heartrate up with lots of running, and volleyball is quite a workout. I love Dance Central also! It has a workout mode and you can choose 15 mins up to 45 minute workouts with no disruption/changing screens. I love Kinect...greatest excuse to work out ever!
  • my shape fitness evolved 2012 is the best for the kinect, its great!
