How do you record walking with a stroller?

Today, I walked with the kids. For the first half of the walk (30 mins), Mr Cranky Pants rode in the stroller and Ms Sunshine walked along. So, since she's two, we walked slowly. I recorded that as 30 mins, 2.0 MPH. Then, she climbed into the stroller as well, and I went a lot faster for the rest of the walk, so I recorded that as 4.5MPH for 30 mins. Then, there is the "walking while pushing a stroller" add on option. The first 30 mins, I pushed 45 lbs worth of kid, slowly, so no great strain. For the second half, I walked really fast, pushed 75 lbs worth of kids, mostly uphill and against the wind. I put that in as 60 mins of pushing a stroller which added an extra 177 cals burned. However, the first half, I had no issues, the second half, I almost collapsed by the time I got home as I kept trying to get home faster as it was cold, Mr Cranky Pants was screaming at me and Ms Sunshine was getting cranky from listening to him scream. I got home faster, but I barely managed to put the stroller away before collapsing into a chair.
Still, not quite sure this was a 400 cal burned walk... how would you record this walk?

I wear a HRM and have created exercise in the "exercise tab" called Walk with Stroller, enter my time and calories. It is the only way to accurate.0

I would log it as walking....slow walking. But you might be able to edit it to read "Walking while pushing stroller" if it will make you feel better.0

Every other weekend I take care of this old lady and she loves to go for walks...which means I push her 150 pound body in a wheelchair while I walk. I just bought a HRM to see the difference in what MFP estimated, and what I am actually doing.0

Get a fitbit.
Do you find it to be accurate? Both hubby and I keep looking at the fitbit and the negative reviews are scaring us off spending $200.0 -

It is a glorified pedometer.
Your money is better spent on actual technology with a BodymediaFIT/BodyBugg (both can be hacked to avoid the monthly subscription) or a good HRM.0 -

Which one did you get. I picked up a Mio HRM at BJ's, but returned it because it was a watch and I realized that it would only record the walking and calculate calories burned if I swing my arm. Well, I push a stroller, no arm swinging happening.0 -

That's what we were reading too. I'd hate to spend that money on a pedometer. I will look into a bodyBugg. I think my MIL has one. I will ask her how she likes it.0 -
On http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php they have walking with a stroller under child care. They also have pushing a wheelchair! There are actually a lot of activities on the site.
Good luck!0 -
Also, in the android market they have cardiotrainer which will map your path, tell you how fast you are going and calories burned. I put my phone in my back pocket and go. I like it because I have it set to automatically play my "running" playlist when I start my workout. There is a free version (which I use) as well as a paid version.0

i just looked it up and the calories burned is the same as on MFP. However, is that 177 cals burned while pushing a stroller in addition to calories burned while walking (280 cals)? Or is it instead of? It does not make sense that it would be instead of, because if I burn 280 walking without a stroller, I certainly burn more while pushing one.0 -

I'm not sure. That's a good point. Have you googled to find other calorie calculators? Would be good to compare various sites.0
