What do you guys think about artificial sweetener's ? Some studies from the 70's said some bad things about some of them, but the warnings about most of them have been dropped, plus some have a weird aftertaste. Ive mostly been drinking water but i do like some of those flavored water's with zero calories.

I was drinking tons of diet coke for years but this past year have had major problems with pain in my hip joints (and I am only 38, not overweight, and in decent shape). I heard that aspertame can cause joint problems, so I quit drinking the diet coke cold turkey last week. Two days of terrible headaches later...my hip pain is almost completely gone. I am pretty sure it was the soda...
  • Personally for me, I love sweeteners and I know that there have been studies that have shown some unpleasant side affects in the past, but they work for me, I probably drink around 250ml of Coke zero and probably have around 8 tsp of sweetner in teas, coffee and cereal through the day. The rest of the time I drink plain tap water or unflavoured still water, I think go with what works for you, for me I find they work :)

I still drink some but I am slowly phasing it out. I am trying to get rid of as much processed stuff as possible. I do know that when I quit drinking diet pop (the major source of any artificial sweeteners I drink) and "watering down" my crystal light my cravings dropped A LOT.
