C25k Question

For all of the people who are doing or have done C25k, has there been any day that you got stuck on?

I'm on week 5, day 2. I've been trying for a couple of days, but I haven't been able to do the last 8 minute run. I've had to break it up. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you stay on that day until you were able to complete it? Did you slow your speed?

    Hi there,
Ive done C25K twice. I was able to complete all runs (days) according to the program.. but some days it was a real struggle. I just remember back then talking to others who had done the program telling me over and over again - if you feel like you have to stop just try slowing down. In the beginning i don't think it's so much about speed as it is endurance. Try to maintain a pace that allows you to keep running if possible. Jogging IS running. The speed will come later. I'm only 7 months into running and I'm still not a fast runner, but I can run for 45-50 or so at a time now without stopping.

Good luck! And if you do have to repeat days - that's no biggie.. you'll keep improving over time. It's a process like anything else

Slow and steady. You should run slow enough that you can still talk in complete sentences without breaking up to breathe. Its not about speed. Its about moving. You can do it, slowly.

I slowed my runs from 6.0 to 5.5 for the first set and 5.2 for the second. It was a little frustrating because it dropped my overall speed, but it was nice to get through.

I just started this today. I am soo not good at distance running, so I am looking forward to building endurance. Any pointers from those who have done it? Is it just three days a week for 9 weeks?

That's correct. And stick to the program. Don't do more just because you re feeling it. It's meant to be slow and steady to increase your stamina without injury.

You can do this. 6 months ago, I began and could barely get through the 60 second run. Today, I ran straight for 6 miles. (Over an hour.)
    And felt great!

Slow and steady, one day at a time.

me again. I am stuck on week 6. I thought that once I was able to run the 20 minutes straight, then I would be able to keep building. Some days I am ablre to run 25 minutes straight, and others I feel like I'm going to die just trying for 20.

I just posted a bit ago about having trouble W5D2. The 8 minutes were a real struggle, you are running much faster than I do, I barely make 5 mph (usually 4.8 or 4.9). I am forging ahead Friday with the 20 minute run. Someone mentioned that day to day is different, and runs may be easier some days. Good luck and keep on running!

Thanks for the reply. I have had to lower my speed. I am now usually running at 5.0 and still really struggling. But I keep plugging along.
