My wife even wants me to talk about my feelings toward hypothetical situations, WTF??
OMG! lol! Guilty as charged. I have totally done this to my husband. I guess I never thought about how weird it might seem to him. :laugh:0 -
.... and has gotten emotional/upset about something that wasn't football or money.
Six nations rugby starts tomorrow YAY. Now that might be worth getting upset over?
Was that a really shallow man statement?0 -
Never realized how much of a bad wrap men were getting in the media and entertainment world till I read Bringing up Boys by James Dobson after my son was born. Then I got to watching for it and couldn't believe the attack on men that was going on. Hard pressed to find a man portrayed as anything other than a bumbling fool, being overly feminized, or a womanizing dirtbag on any TV show nowadays.
That was a HUGE eye opener for me as well. I would recommend it to anyone who is raising boys-even if they aren't little anymore. I read it when my only boy was already a teen and let me tell you I treat him differently than I used to. I was saying so many joking things I didn't even realize were just things I had picked up from female family members who really did NOT like men.0 -
I have met my share of man haters. People who hate anyone have issues all their own and are certainly no one I'll associate with.0

Perhaps all these things will become a non issue if we can ever get to a point where it is politically correct to admit that men and women are just both physically and emotionally different and that is actually a good thing we are.
Respect for a lady and the way she sees, interprets and reacts to life will help a guy not be frustrated at times.
Respect for the way a guys outlook and reactions are based on the way his mind works will help deal with misinterpretation of feelings.
Maybe will never happen and right now I don`t see any desire for it in our educational system or mass media.
Agreed.0 -

A great book for me was "Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man's Soul" by John Eldredge0 -

This^^^ Men and women are different. Their perceptions and reactions are different - doesn't mean one's right and one's wrong. Doesn't mean one feels and one doesn't, they just express differently. When my husband and I don't see eye to eye - this is what we agree on - we're different, and neither of us are wrong in our perceptions.
We aren't mind readers, but we sure try to be.0 -

Y U BRING PEDO BEAR INTO THIS??!!!0 -
My husband and I are opposites when it comes to showing emotions. I'm not real emotional, I don't want to talk about things, he on the other hand, wants to talk about everything. But physical emotions... We've been together 3 years and he has seen me cry maybe a handful of times, once when my daughter won the gold buckle for equestrian at special olympics, and the other times were all when I was shipping my best friend back to Florida after a visit (he couldn't understand that at all). He has only cried twice, once watching a video of our daughter before her big accident where she was running around and riding a bike (things that are very difficult for her now) and once at our wedding, I didn't cry at our wedding, he didn't get that either, lol.
We have 2 boys and 4 girls, I tell each of them to suck it up anytime they cry over getting hurt (unless it's bad) or getting their feelings hurt or any other pansy-*kitten* thing they might cry over. When it's something worth crying over, like when the dog died or when their papa got real sick, I let them all cry.
I can't stand meaningless whining, in boys, girls, children or adults.0 -

I don't have to pretend to like "the mall" and having facials.
Edit...I really need to read the entire thread before I think I try and say something clever.0 -

Members,
Please tread lightly on this topic, while it may be obvious that this web community is dominated by females, we must always try to show respect to all sexes and classes.

There are a lot of those type of posts. "Men are all shallow, men are all after one thing, men don't think, men only see, they don't know how to think or feel, etc..."
I usually respond with "you're right, and women are all after the bank account and the social status of being with a hot guy to make their girlfriends jealous regardless of the type of guy he is", to which they inevitably respond with how wrong I am (yeah that's the point)
Generalizations are generalizations. They make whoever uses them a tool.0 -

Men are trained to not have feelings. Ever hear someone say quit being a sissy and stop crying to a boy. No one would ever say that to a girl.
This week at church I actually heard a 'man' (term used loosely) ask a 9 yr old boy if he was a girl. When the boy replied 'no' then he was told to stop screaming like a girl! This happened as 8 - 10 boys aged 6 - 9 yr were running around, chasing each other, playing tag. I really wanted to smack him in the mouth. I better never hear someone say something like that to my grandson! Boys growing into men need to be able to express themselves just like women. How else can they make it in a marriage?0 -
Whew! For a minute, I thought you really did think men were dumb!
I'm so glad that wasn't true! It's time we start telling them what they do right! :flowerforyou:0 -
i read something on a message board today that really bothered me. basically this woman was like "men aren't that deep, they don't have feelings."
i understand SOME men are like that (and by the way, so are some women... we're not immune, stupidity is an equal opportunist) but i can honestly say that out of all the males i am close with, every single one of them has had some sort of issue and has gotten emotional/upset about something that wasn't football or money.0 -
Obviously every person that has nothing good to say about this thread has ONLY read the title...0
