Scary news

edited November 9 in Motivation and Support
I had a "good" January; I tracked (mostly) really well, for almost all of the month, but am most definitely off track now. I do not, at the moment, feel motivated to continue trying to lose weight.

I have just been to see the specialist doctor in London, following my operation to remove a small but annoying brain tumour last September. He has agreed with me that I am healing well; although he has told me quite clearly that it could be up to a year before my head is painfree enough for me to wear my glasses again normally. I can't wear contacts; tried them and they are not for me, I'm afraid.

However, my balance has not recovered. In fact, yesterday, at the Balance Clinic in York, the therapist who has been helping me since 2010 when this all started, was horrified at how unbalanced I have become. She expected me to be walking without sticks completely by now.....she last saw me in November 2011....and she told me yesterday that I was worse than she had ever seen me!!

Both the London doctor and the Balance Clinic therapist believe I have had a stroke. They are advising me to see my GP immediately and to have a CT scan as a priority.

This is mightily scary stuff.

Somehow counting calories seems to be just not important anymore...

Advice and encouragement needed, please!!!

Thanks!.

You sweet, sweet woman. I am sorry you are going through all of this. It is scary. i hope you have a great support system in place and I hope you are going to come out okay.

I know weight loss when you have serious issues in your life doesn't seem as important. But sometimes when your world is crumbling it's good to have a routine and a support system. i know I'm grateful during some points in my life to have something completely unrelated to the terrors of my life.

Counting calories is just as important as exercise and the constant reminder of calorie tracking can help you keep your sanity during the scary times. i think you should stick with this site and use it to help take a break from the doctors and to focus on solely you.

  • Fingers crossed for you. I agree, counting calaries is not the be all and end all, being HEALTHY is. Counting calories is one thing that you have control over and helps one be healthy.
I went through a similar exerience a couple of years back when diagnosed with BC but doc def encouraged keeping weight in check so that is my job and I leave the medical bits and pieces in her hands.
    All the best.
