Well this morning I got up and went for a run. It was not easy. I really hope my knee can handle it. Cause I reason want to be able to run ... my niece wants me to sign up for the fargo 5k.

I've been repeating Week 1 for the last four weeks. I couldn't even complete week 1 day 1 at first so I started with a modified version - run 1, walk 2-3 minutes. I couldn't quite go the 25 minutes either. But I built up over 4 weeks and last night I completed a real Week 1 Day 1, all 30 minutes, and I finished strong. It was amazing! Sure, it took a little longer for me to build up to it, but now I'm on fire. For anyone worried about trying to start running - it doesn't have to be an all or nothing deal. You can start very slow and work your way up.

I also realized pretty quickly that I was trying to go too fast. Once I slowed way down the running felt more natural and I was able to complete more and build up.

I started last Sunday but like a previous poster haven't done a real week 1 run yet since I skip 1 or two runs and just walk during it each time. I am gettign real running shoes tomorrow and I think that will help. I ran more of it on Tuesday then I did on sunday and I"m sure I'll run even more on Friday. I hope this Sunday to do the full week 1 and have next week be my official week 1.

If your knee is bothering you be careful about pushing it too much, you don't want to injure your knee.

Thats okay that it took you longer. That just shows your hard work. You will make it. Stay strong.... Great job...

I actually started on the 1st as well and finished my second run of week 1 today.

I'm using a treadmill (I'm currently manually adjusting the speeds to 3.8 for walking and 5.0 for running) since there is way too much slush and ice. I had done the C25K once before, but only got to two weeks. I'm doing okay at the current pace, I'm not getting too winded but I'm noticing (especially today) at the last interval my hips seem to cramp. Which is strange because I remember when I tried it the first time, my calves had cramped instead.

I'm going to try looking up some floor excercises that I can do after the run to "open" the hips, so I'm not feeling it as much the next day.

    Good luck!
