    Hello

My goals for this week will be:

Workout 1: walk at 3.5 for 2 minutes run at 5 for 1 minute > 20 minutes total
Workout 2: walk at 3.5 for 2 minutes run at 5 for 1 minute > 20 minutes total
Workout 3: walk at 3.5 for 2 minutes run at 5 for 1 minute > 20 minutes total

A lot is going on this week, as you can probably tell by my delay in posting my goals and the fact that I have yet to workout this week. I started my job on campus this week and I'm getting everything set up. It is a lot more difficult than I though it would be to balance work, school, eating healthy, and working out. I hope that once everything settles into more of a regular schedule it will be a bit better. We shall see.

Hope everyone has a good day!

    Good morning,

My thighs are still sore, I guess I overdid it last weeks training. Anyways, my goals for the rest of the week is to try 3 workouts with high intensity interval training (HIIT).

    Greg thanks for the link.!

Also, according to my records on runkeeper.com, I ran a total of 62.9 miles for the month of January. Thank goodness that was not consecutively

Sorry didn't post my goals yesterday, I'm having a slow start this week. I've been fighting a cold for the past couple of days, so I'm not feeling up to tackling on a lot this week. My plans are just to take it easy and stick with last week's goals, although I have yet to start :( Hopefully towards the end of the week I can get a workout or two in.

My workout goal for this week:
workout 1: complete two half mile jogs, with walk intervals for a total of 30 mins. Walk 3.5, jog 5.0
workout 2: complete two half mile jogs, with walk intervals for a total of 30 mins. Walk 3.5, jog 5.0
workout 3: complete two half mile jogs, with walk intervals for a total of 30 mins. Walk 3.5, jog 5.0

    Good luck everyone!!

Light workout yesterday - had to spend time with my 14 year old son getting his fitness orientation in the weight/cardio room so that he could workout when I am in there.

Workout: 15 minutes of basketball, weights for 20 minutes, ran 1 mile at 8:11.

    a) Workout 1 complete, although, I didn't quite jog the entire time.
    b) I think I'll focus on strength training for the rest of the week, so my goals will change slightly. I feel too blah for cardio.

Greg, it's good that you're teaching your son the ropes! I wish my girls would get on board *sigh*

It's a battle! My oldest, a 14 year old, was highly athletic until Jr High. He played soccer, football, and even ran a 5K with me! Then XBOX came along and Jr High, and he has wanted to do nothing in relation to exercise. We dropped our 24 hr fitness membership (only my wife and I were members) and joined our local community Rec Center which is brand new. They have a full-size olympic pool, racquetball courts, indoor track, weight room, and two full basketball courts. We were able to join as a family, so now I am able to get him to go because he likes playing basketball and now getting the opportunity to workout on the weight and cardio equipment. Now if I could only influence his nutritional habits :ohwell:

My other two are highly active. My 7 year old daughter is in a dance company, and is ripped - I mean RIPPED! She has muscles everywhere, including a textbook six pack for abs. My middle son, 10 years old, does nothing but play outside. He has run a couple of 5Ks with me, and on his last one, I think he ran right at 29:00 or so. He runs a mile in under 8 minutes, so I am trying to encourage him to go out for cross country and track in Jr. High in another year or so. These two are very easy with nutrition, they love fruit and vegetables, and will eat just about anything we cook.

Good luck with your girls - just set an example, and keep on bugging them!!!

XBox and JR High, yep, I can relate, although my kids are older. I think I have to give up the nagging though, I'm not getting anywhere. I did however clean the house of junk a few months ago, and the junk never found its way back! I have 24hr fitness membership, which I seldom use, but if I give it up, I'll lose the promotion price. It's good that your family found a place that you can all workout together.

    2/2 Workout: Ran 4.4 miles, 9:07/mile pace

How's everyone doing with their workouts this week? Don't give up - this is the time to keep going, don't let that New Year momentum fade!!!

2/2 workout done. I walked 4.25miles at slow pace with incline of 4.5. I could feel it.! I also need to do strength training last time I did the C25k I was incorporating with strength training session and I was more toned. I feel like everything is jiggling...LOl!

    @Greg thanks for the encouragement.
@ Felicia, I'm also having hard time with my 10 yrs old son. I look at him and all I see is me. He doesn't like exercise, loves eating carbs. I got the Wii, Xbox a boxing bag all he wants is to play games. We are going to sign him up for baseball that is at least what he wants to do. He also has an asthma and uses it as an excuse. I guess I will just have to be a role model for him and hope that he will come to his sense.

Good work out! The incline will really build your endurance. Definitely incorporate some strength training, if nothing other than to prevent any injuries. It is disappointing when all the hard work you put in is sidelined by an injury.

Definitely be that role model!!! I have asthma as well, and still run quite a bit. I occasionally have to use my inhaler, but most of the time I am able to control it just by focusing on the intensity of the exercise. Just remember that as with everything else in life, exercising has to become a habit, and the only way to make something a habit is to repeat it until it becomes routine.

    a) Workout 2 complete! I jogged 2 1/2 mile laps, with walking in-between. I also did some weight lifting with the hub.
    b) It wasn't as difficult because I'm feeling a little more energized following a few days of cold meds.

    Btw. where is everybody??

Yasmin, that's awful, sorry to hear of your pain :(. I'm not sure what's going on, but perhaps your socks are too thin? Hang in there and hope you find a solution to this prob.

I completed my 3rd workout this morning. I wanted to get it done while its nice and cool. It was pretty warm yesterday. Still cant believe that it's winter!! I'm now gonna do some weights!!

I didn't post yesterday - for some reason, I can't even get to the community section when I use my Kindle Fire (I know, this is really not a tablet, it is an e-reader - but it runs the MFP android app). Anyway, never made it to my laptop to post.

    2/4 Workout:

    1 mile treadmill run @ 9:13
1 mile rowing on rowing machine @ 8:00
    40 minutes of weight/circuit training
    1 mile on indoor track @ 9:38

Going to be hard to get the initial 12 miles in that I wanted, but I'll come close. I plan on running today, but I think I am at 7 miles, and I doubt I will run 5. I would guess I will get about 3 in.

    2/5 Workout:

I got on the treadmill and pushed through to 5.25 miles! I hit my 12 miles for the week, and glad I was able to break that 5 mile mental barrier. I ran an average of 8:57/mile. Now time to record my exercise in MFP and grab some snacks for the Superbowl!!!

    Keep exercising!!!

Thanks - but look at you! You have lost 21 lbs - that is incredible, and you should be very proud of that great accomplishment. Exercising and dieting/eating nutritionally better is not easy, and there are many pessimists and nay-sayers out there. Don't listen to them - plow through it - use there negative energy and turn it to positive strength!

Of course, I am preaching to the choir here

    Keep up the good work!
