Superbowl Weekend

Anyone else out there worried about struggling this weekend with their eating? I am having some friends over to watch the game and I have some healthy snack alternatives but once I have a couple glasses of wine my discipline goes out the window. My goal is to only have 2 drinks and snack on veggies and hummus. Wish me luck!!! Go Giants!!!!

YAY go giants!
Good thing you are planning! I am going to a superbowl party right after work and I know there will be hardly anything healthy.
I am planning on having a few beers, snacking on the veggies, have a baked potato instead of fries. But I am already preparing myself to be okay with having a a bit of a cheat...just so I don't sit there miserable. Whether it be a few potato chips, a piece of Texas toast or about half cup of baked ziti or something (and I know who is catering this event, this food is good but Calorific!) I'm going to keep it simple and be okay with eating close to maintenance calories that day. I dont want to tell myself "nothing but celery" because if i do have a bite of something outside of what I planned I dont want to feel like I've failed and throw in the towel for the night...that might do some REAL damage with the calories
Best thing to do is don't stress out! I never want to feel anxious or stressed over fun event because of the food.
But hey....if we fall week to something tasty....the gym will be screaming our names the next morning. Pushing that extra hour of cardio because I had some cake....SO BE IT

Thanks for the support. You are right about not stressing about it. I will try and load up on a big healthy salad and enjoy my wine and root the G Men to another Championship!!! I will definitely be hitting the treadmill hard today and Monday.0

I'll be having a healthy, filling snack before we hit the superbowl parties.. That will help keep me from being ravenous as soon as I hit the food table! Also, I'm going to do a couple hours of cardio Sunday morning to give myself a little extra calorie allowance.
When it comes to apps, dips, and the like, I'll allow myself to have just one of each thing. That really cuts down on the game day binge for me. I get to have a little of everything, and don't end up feeling like total crap the next day.0 -

Hahaha - nice!!!! There was a reason I was at the gym for 2hrs this morning and plan on doing something tomorrow as well. I am a sucker for wings, ribs and beer. Well really just beer - the wings and ribs are just filler
Oh yea - GO GIANTS!!!0 -

Here's a recipe that me and my wife eat before a large eating event. It's filling and pretty low calorie. A couple servings of this and I don't feel like eating anything for hours! We omit the blueberries. You can add any milk. Using silk unsweetened almond milk brings this to 90 calories per serving. Add your sweetener of choice if desired.
Sunrise Polenta with Vanilla and Blueberries
Ingredients
Serves: 6 Prep: 2min|Cook: 15min |Total: 22min
NOTE: Ingredients for a changed serving size are based on a calculation and are not reviewed by the author or tested. Please also consider scaling up or down cooking containers as needed.
1 cup stone-ground cornmeal
4 cups unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze nondairy beverage
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup fresh blueberries
Directions
1.
In a 2-quart saucepan, heat the cornmeal over medium heat, stirring constantly, for about 3 minutes, or until lightly toasted. Remove from the heat and carefully pour in the Almond Breeze.
2.
Return to the heat and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring regularly, for about 10 minutes, or until the cereal is thickened and creamy.
3.
Remove from the heat and allow to stand for 5 minutes. Stir in the vanilla and berries. Serve immediately.0 -
I don't have regular cheat days (at least not yet, still early in my weight loss) so I'm making Sunday my cheat day! I've made sure I've got tons of exercise in this week, hit a Bikram Yoga class this morning when I really didn't want to go. It's just hubby and I watching the game so I'm making the food - wings, nacho dip, and veggies and dip. The snacks we enjoy but aren't too fattening (though I haven't calculated the calorie count on my nacho dip yet!)
Either way, going to weigh myself today, allow myself a splurge tomorrow then get right back into it on Monday.

No because we don't have any friends that are doing anything or have asked us so it's just my boyfriend and I
