This year I am participating in the Central Ellis County, TX in memory of my Dad, who lost his battle August 18th, 2011. I am looking for suggestions for any type of fundraising I can do. I participated last year as part of a team, but I have decided to register as an individual this year. I have my goal set low at $500 but I am hoping to surpass that. I plan on doing a few bake sales, and I have bought a bunch of cancer awareness bracelets to sell during those as well.
Anyone have any suggestions? You can either respond here or send me a message.
TIA

I would love to do a garage sale, however I am way in the country now. A local resale shop has offered to donate 50% of all profits of merchandise I bring in (or someone else brings in saying my name). I may take them up on that offer.

My relay team would set up tables in front of grocery stores and get donations. People were often times very giving, and ACS would give us things to give to people, like bracelets or stickers or key chains... I don't know if they still do it, I haven't done R4L in about 3 years...

Garage sale, BBQ, letter campaign. I did team in training a few years ago and raised over 2000.00 just off letters alone. You will be amazed on what people will donate if you just ask! Good luck.

Did you just write to local businesses? Perhaps if I put a picture on the letter and made it more personable it would get a better response, you think?

I sent it to just about everyone I know and a few businesses too. Most of the money actually came from individuals not the businesses. I will try to inbox you a copy of the letter later today or tomorrow.
