I want a pedometer that shows me how far I've gone and what speed - any suggestions? Actual distance not just how many steps.

I know garmin makes one - just don't know if it's good or if any out there are better...

My husband has a garmin. He paid around $160 for it.. It can show actual mileage, heart rate, how fast you went one each mile and probably a lot of other things. I have a HRM that does not have a GPS, but you can also use google earth to map out your route and it will tell you how many miles.

Runner's world has an area on it where you can put in a route and it will tell you mileage and if you put in how long it took you to do it, how many MPH. I use it for biking.
  • I have a Garmin & would highly recommend them. Its nice to just go out the door and turn it on and see exactly how long you have been running and how far you have gone. Also tells you things like your pace and % grade of the ground and stuff.

Couldn't find the area on runners world - do you know where it's at?

I can't map on google cause some of it is a bike trail not a road.

Go to www.runnersworld.com and click training log. You will have to set up an account but that is just your e-mail and a password. Under the trainer's log there is a section for routes, click it and then new route. You should be able to put the city and state in and zoom in on the roads. I can get bike trails on mine in my area. I guess the bike trail thing would depend on if they are entered for your area or not. The whole thing takes about 5-10 minutes. I save it as Bike 1, Bike 2, running 1, etc and then log the info on MFP under my exercises. I have an HRM but the runner's world site will tell you calories burned but they are not as accurate as my HRM.
