Hi,

I'm new to myfitnesspal and the site looks great. It does exactly what i wanted it to do. I weight 273lb and it's time to get rid of a lot of it. I ultimatly want to get down to 200-210 but will be happy at the moment just getting below 250lb. My doc told me that if i'm going to keep a food diary, i need to tell the truth as i'm only kidding myself otherwise.

Also joined the gym and will be trying to get in there at least 4 times a week. I have a good bunch of freinds who have offered to come with me so hopefully, all should go well!

Wish me luck!

Hi Matt, and welcome to THE best site on the web! :flowerforyou:
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works.
Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP!
Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:

Welcome! Congrats on joining. This site is great for a reality shock on foods. Every once in a while I will enter a food I haven't had in a while -> like 10-20 chicken wings and beer every Monday night not realizing it is between 1200-1500 cal in one sitting - Then your like "no wonder I was getting fat". lol.

My advice (and many others advice too) ENTER BEFORE EATING.

    Good luck!

    Hi!
I'm new here and am optimistic that this site will help me on my weight loss journey. I haven't tried everything. starving myself, exercising a ton and tossing up what I did eat only made me feel worse, made my hair start to fall out, and over all make me look like a total druggie ( I did lose 4 lbs, but it wasn't worth it.) oh, I was on a liquid diet when I was in high school, but that was only because i couldn't eat anything else. (got my tounge pierced... on both sides... swollen for a week) I am an avid coffee drinker and I like a beer once in a while when I'm at home relaxing. I do like to go out and have fun with the girls, but that's pretty hard when your main girl has moved to Timmins. (about 12 hours away) Hopefully with this site, I'll be more conscious of what I'm eating!!

    Hey Matt,

WTG for jumping in and signing up to the site! Your goals seem very realistic and that's fantastic! one day at a time, eh!!! Best of luck reaching your goal weight and health. I'm new to this site as well and am really looking forward to what it has to offer. Nothing like being able to track your food intake and exercise and having it right there staring back at you. That's enough to keep me on track lol !!

    Again good luck!
