I just started 30 day shred tonight but am not familiar with the rest, are they similar?

Would love support if they are.

I bought Extreme Shed and Shred (and several other Jillian dvds) after I finished my round of the 30 Day Shred - it is so much tougher! Lots of new and interesting moves. I like to do both levels back-to-back as suggested, which comes out to about an 80 minute workout. I'm actually about to go do it right now. :-D I use a couple of different size weights for the different exercises - up to 10 lbs on some of them, and I'm about to go buy some 12's and 15's to try out on some of the moves, too.

I like to alternate it with Banish Fat Boost Metabolism - that one is mainly cardio and no weights so it gives some of my muscles a bit of a rest but still a good workout for burning calories (it's about 50 minutes long and mainly cardio but there is also an ab circuit in the middle).

they are pretty similiar. 30ds is a shorter workout, shed and shred being either 30+ minutes or 60 if you combine both workouts. its jillian and shes pretty tough on both dvds!

its so funny because i just saw one of your posts and was trying to figure out what these charger challenges are?

Sounds like you're a Jillian junky too ;) She's awesome! Tough, but very do-able!!! Get your workout on! The moment has passed for me, for today. Maybe tomorrow will be better, but definitely Monday!! I hope y'all hang with me, or a few anyway...lol! I will be posting here as soon I workout, hopefully atleast 5 days a week!!!!

The charger challenge is a daily challenge posted by a member called charger something.. lol

He posts strength or cardio challenges every day! Star of the boards. I took part a while back but started missing them due to Uni, so am just back. They're optional and good for a quick get off the sofa! lol

I love Gillian in the biggest loser and definately respond to that no nonesense get up and do it! lol I did find this hard, I'm still 181lbs so am carrying weight still (i'm only 5' 3" tall) but really need this and the fact it continues after is great news.

Hope it's ok to tag along. :)

So did you do shed & shred or another Jillian DVD? I did s&s a few weeks ago for a week but was trying to do c25k so I stopped. Back to s&s because running hurts my back :/

Oh I did 30 day shred, I misread the title of the post I think! I am pretty out of shape though and it kicked my butt. I just did finish the second day and although I was really sore, I did not slack on it, and by the time it was over my muscles actually felt better than they did before the workout! I think after 30 day shred I will be purchasing the shed and shred, have heard its even more difficult!
  • I'm curious - when you do the 30 Day Shred or Extreme Shred - do you do it everyday? Or do you take some days off?

I have read a lot of different opinions on that, I will be taking a break tomorrow between day 2 and 3, dont want to damage any muscles, but will try to do 3-7 consecutively, and then give myself a 1 day break before starting stage 2. Hopefully I can make it through stage 2 with only one break, and then the same with 3. I think everyone does it different. I notice a lot have said they do the video one day and light cardio the next, repeat.

I usually work out 2 or 3 days then take a day off, otherwise I get burnt out.

I think 30ds was pretty difficult just because she has you working out in one minute increments which can be hard to endure, but on ripped in 30 and s&s she does it in 30 second increments. Its hard but seems like you get to catch your breath sooner than with 30ds. if you can hang with 30ds you wont have a problem with s&s :) - and if you've never tried ripped in 30, she has some moves that are just plan TORTURE!!! I've always been happy with her DVDs though!!!! No pain, no gain - literally!!! and she brings the pain and pushes you! love it, and HATE it!!! lol!

I am definitely going to have to try the s&s after I finish 30 day shred. Did day 4 of it today and it was ... better. Still having problems with catching my breath, but I smoke (I know I need to quit) so my lungs are really out of shape. I like what you said about the s&s being only 30 second intervals, I think I could manage that!

If you don't have a heartrate monitor to estimate your calories, you can get a decent estimate by logging it as 20 minutes of 'circuit training, general'.

Let me know how it works out for you!!! I started Ripped in 30 last Monday and took two days off (had to get ready for Super Bowl party) and did my Day 6 week 1 last night. I start Day 1 Week 2 tonight and am totally scared and pumped all at the same time!! I am hoping to get Extreme Shed and Shred to follow this one...
