I want to lose weight, burn fat, but also gain muscle mass. Does anyone know how much I should eat and when to eat them? I am at 215 now and would like to get down to 195 by March. Can anyone help?

BUMP!
But your food diary should show how much of that to take in. Generally, white food carbs aren't good. But there are so many whole wheat alternatives now.
Veggies are great carbs to eat.
By the way, 20lbs seems like quite a lot to lose in less than a month. :-/0 -
My docs and dietitians have me at 150 or less per day, everyones body is diff though some like more carbs then others and others like more protein then others, check with your dietitian or doctor they can steer you better or experiment one week stay low carb 150 or less and more protein see if you see any loss then flip flop, remember cardio is key for losing it takes 3500 burned cals to lose 1lb, as a female no less than 1200 cals a day though or your body can go into starvation mode and cause massive weight gain over time, also watch your sodium intake a daily recommended intake is 2400/2500mg a day, make sure you get your water, whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies and lean meats, personally I do taters and red meat 2-3x a 2-3 week period cause potatoes are my enemy lol, you got this
Also remember the smaller you are harder it gets to lose, bigger you are the more you will burn, just gotta keep on truckin
I gained 195lbs when I quit smoking replacing smoking with FOOD
that was 12yrs ago
2009 i started losing 19 months I lost 156lbs 14lbs shy of my goal
house buying/selling came along I lost track gained weight back
this year is my year
we got this!0 -
There are a lot of low carbers out there that lose weight strictly by diet only. Atkins induction will definitely make you lose weight. That will put your carb intake near 20gr a day for a couple weeks. Muscle mass, lean muscle, it's all relative. If you are a sloth that never gets off the couch, then working out and doing a low carb diet will definitely get you in better shape, stronger and lighter. If your looking to lean down to have six pack abbs and be ultra thin and muscular, I honestly believe a more balanced diet including enough carbohydrates is the answer.
If you went strictly low carbing and never worked out, it's not uncommon to lose10-15 pounds the first month. Twenty seems like a stretch.0 -
carbs are awesome. i've actually not made any attempt to reduce my carbs specifically, but have cut down on a lot of portions in general. i personally like carbs like oatmeal mixed with peanut butter in the morning, but i eat things like rice and potatoes at night too.
you can build muscle while on a calorie deficit, but you need to do plenty of strength training, while consuming lots of protein. ignore the MFP number for protein. you want to eat like twice the protein it gives you.
just noticed you want to lose 20lbs in just four weeks. this is a lot, but if you are brand spanking new to losing weight, and since you are a young male, by reducing your calories to a 1lb lose per week and drink plenty of water and eating better and exercising regularly, you can lose a significant amount. its one of the perks for being a guy.0 -
I would alter the goals to 40% carbs and 30% fat and protein and try to be strict and keep your carbs down and up the protein. You need protein to build muscle. Try a brisk walk every day at least 40 mins0

Erm, eat to your calorie limit and try to manage your macros so they don't go into the red. If you exercise, eat more. Carbs are not necessarily the enemy and are actually needed to maintain healthy energy levels. Just try to make them good carbs like fruits/vegies and avoid the white stuff (white bread, pasta, etc).0
