Tips for staying motivated?

I often find that my motivation pretty much is gone after day one. Everything after that is a struggle.

I was wondering what are some tips and tricks to stay on track and not yield to the temptation of unhealthy eating and how to get back on track after a slip up because I often quit after the first cookie.

I have a very unflattering picture of mine which I keep right in front. So whenever my motivation is low,i look at that and I know I want to change. So I get up from the couch and I exercise.

Food temptation is difficult. But I try to keep myself full with "good" food and when I am not hungry,I don't crave for sweets. And many a times I have this struggle in my mind, "should I take that free cookie or not?", "should I go out for lunch with my colleague or eat the lunch I got from home?". Previously I used to lose these struggles and cave in but lately , as hard it is, I have been not giving into the temptation. It's hard but I am trying to do it.

It's our goal to lose weight isn't it? No one said it would be easy.

Exercise! I tend to eat better on the days when I worked out.

Stand in front of a mirror naked (seriously) then look yourself in the eye, that person in the mirror deserves to be treated better!

Don't let one bad meal, day, or week stop you! Keep trying and re-trying.
  • No one said we were perfect or that we wouldn't fall off the wagon ever now and then. For me I have been trying new recipes that I have found on MFP. They are very good and filling. And alot of them don't take alot to fix. I always fill in my diary daily to help me stay on track. My motivation is " If it is to be, then it is up to me!!!" Set a weekly goal for yourself. Like, if you stay on target for the week, treat yourself to something. Anythng, it doesn't have to cost any money. My friend made time to have a spa day at home (facial, bubble bath, calming music) just for herself!!!! She loved it. And it cost her no money for she had everything in the bathroom already. Just remember, sometimes that wagon ride can get pretty rough and we fall off. So you just get right back up, dust yourself off, and next time just hold on tighter!!!!!!! :flowerforyou:
