treadclimber?

I have an elliptical, and I really enjoy it. I am seriously considering a treadclimber. Is it a better workout than an elliptical? The problem is I have a very small house, and I know I won't keep both. I also realize I am an informercial junkie. Maybe the infomercial makes it sound better than it is. (I was burned on the Perfect Pancake and it was only $19.99!) Any input or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had a treadclimber........I sold it. Is it a good workout? Absolutely! But.........I disliked it. I found it very awkward. It has a separate belt for each foot, so they can operate separately as a stairclimber. For me the space in between the two belts was too wide for my stance. I actually stepped on the piece in the middle during my warmup ,while I had them locked into treadmill position. One leg came to a dead stop while the other kept moving......think America's Funniest Home Videos - should have been taping my technique lol. Anyways, I hurt my back and hip so bad! It was a good 6 weeks before I was pain free. I sold it and bought a regular old treadmill. I prefer it much more.
I have no idea if it makes a difference but I am only 5'2 - 5'3" so maybe with longer legs a wider stance is normal. At the very least I would find a place to try one out first.
The other thing I disliked - I have one leg stronger than the other, as I think most of us have a dominant leg. This made it very hard to keep the stairclimber feature "even" if that makes sense. I would find after a while one step would be really up high and the other down low.0 -
I would keep the elliptical and quit watching infomercials. I can get hooked on them too so i never watch them.0

Thank you for the info! I'm 5'3, so that was also a concern of mine. I am less than graceful, so maybe I better pass.
Guess I'll stick with my beloved elliptical, and order some pajama jeans or something, LOL.0 -

Ooo PJ Jeans! What is the free gift if you order now? I also get sucked into infomercials, thankfully there is never a phone around.0
