I am in my late 40's. I seem to do best on 40% or less on the carbs. I try for at least 30% on protein (without using shakes) and have a hard time getting in 30% fats. I have found that I have to intentionally add fats to my foods or I don't make it. If I don't add the fats my skin and hair get really dry in the winter.

    When I was going lean, I was 50% protein/30% carb/20% fat. I am currently around 40% protein, 40% carb, 20% fat.

46 here and I tend to lose best with around 40% protein, 35-40% carb and low fat (20-25%).

I don't think it has anything to do with age. Some people do better with more carbs than protein and vice versa. Though for those trying to build muscle, more protein is important.

I'm 42. At first I just did what MFP defaulted to. Then my trainer (I lift weights 2x a week with her) suggested I eat more protein so I changed my goals to 40 30 30. That was too hard; too much protein, not enough carbs. So I switched to 50 25 25 and I am trying for that. It's still higher in protein. I do notice when I eat more protein and fat, my cravings for "bad" carbs like muffins and breads tend to lessen.
