Hi,
Does any of you have suggestions for sugar free drinks. I do drinks loads of water, but after 2-3 large bottles (2-3 liter) I do get enough of water. Here in Thailand we have no sugar free drinks available. There was Diet Coke and Pepsi Max, but after the Bangkok flooding they are at the moment no longer available. All other drinks like fanta, ice tea, tea drinks and so on all have added sugars in them. I never drank those anyway, since I never cared about sweet drinks and used to always drink Pepsi Max at home (or water of course).

I am thinking of someway adding a taste to water, just for a change, but what and how to do that.

Thanks for your support.

Regards, Ron

What fruit & veggies are available to you? A sliced cucumber in a gallon of water makes a yummy treat. Any citrus chunks in water is also very good. It's still water, but there is a new and interesting (and yummy!) flavor in it, so it helps a lot.

Can you get sparkling mineral water or plain (unflavoured) soda water? Usually when I go out, I will alternate these with other drinks - they are fizzy and taste more interesting that plain water. It's very good with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice.

Or, even better, if you can get one locally, see if your shops stock a Soda Stream (or something similar) when you can add fizz to plain water.
  • i understand that water gets bland after a while. Milk is a good opition or i find that fresh lemon or lime even a few bits of cucumber freshen up your water and gives it a bit of taste.
  • I constantly am drinking some sort of tea. Have lots of different kinds of tea bags!

I can understand your problem ... it is the same in many parts of Asia. Non Alcoholic Drinks always seem to be about 90%sugar. I have a sweet tooth and even for me some of these are too much.

Usually I drink water or when in Saigon I have a place that has learned to make my ice tea without sugar.

But i also tend to drink a lot of juices and smoothies.

I do dice up citrus fruit and put it in my water bottle. Tea comes in lots of versions but you likely only have black, best to use herbal to avoid too much caffeine.
  • I just tried a great all natural clear liquid water infusion product, it really tastes great and their is nothing artifical in the product. Go to infuseyourwater.com for free samples!!!

I also drink a lot of plain water (I aim for about a gallon a day) and have found that the Crystal Light raspberry iced tea once or twice a week is a "treat" for me. I just dump one of the portions in my 20 oz. water bottle and shake it up and enjoy. I know that it probably isn't the healthiest alternative since I can't pronounce most of the ingredients but I am not drinking it everyday and I am eating a ton of fresh fruits and vegetables so an occasional treat isn't going to kill my dieting progress.
