I wonder if I am the only one trying so hard to lose some weight and then ruining it in one weekend! I was so pleased with my weight loss with myfitnesspal.com but I went away for a weekend with my friend and most of the weight has returned!

I have such a downer on myself. I am so gutted. All the hard work over the last 4 weeks has just gone!

Don't beat yourself up, that's the worst thing to do because it leads to comfort eating. Just stay focused and get back into the routine you had before you went away. We all have bad days and weeks but one every once in a while does us good and makes us realise why we're doing this to begin with.
  • 90% of the weight you gained over the weekend will just be water weight which should leave your body within the next few days! Don't worry everyone has a bad weekend :) Unless you ate 5943759325730540384 calories at the weekend you wouldn't of suddenly gained all of the weight back!
  • You are not the only one to do that and you won't be the last trust me. I spent all last year doing exactly the same thing. Christmas saw me undo a whole years work!! Its taken till this week to lose the Christmas weight and I ask myself is it worth it? Of course, the answer is no. I say that I won't do it again but I bet I will. However, every time I go away or every Christmas, a lesson has been learned from last time and its not as bad as last time. We're on a huge learning curve here. The trick is to find out how to live your life and stay within calories. Will we ever find the answer? I don't know but we have to keep trying

Oh I think we've all done that at some stage, but what you have to do is forget about it and start afresh, otherwise you will use that as an excuse to keep eating. You need to keep on track, keep tracking your food on here and it will happen, just don't beat yourself up about it...
  • I am feeling the same way this morning. I had lost so well, and today it is almost all back, after just one day of party food. I believe that most is salt held water gain, but still....the number hurts. I figure that I will try to learn and consider it as a lesson...I am practicing and you are too! We will do better eventually. Hang in there!

Hey no worries over it, just continue doing what you did to lose the weight before you gained and it will come off again :) It's ok if you slip sometimes, the good thing is that you know how to get back up ^_^

I have been doing exactly the same thing. I was so good over christmas I managed to lose 3 lbs and then since then I have been out eating and drinking every weekend. If I havent been socialising out I have been doing it in. The scales this morning were 3 lbs up thanks to wine wine food and more wine this weekend and I am feeling pretty annoyed with myself. I have been doing really well. I am back on it from today and not letting anything make me stray this weekend.

Good luck with it.... we may need it haha xxx

You cant undo 4 weeks of good work with 2 days of bad :-) Keep up the good habits.
  • hunny I would seriously doubt all of that is actual weight gain sounds like that devilish water bloat. Drink more water and change your exercise routine a bit if you can my guess it that it will come right off. Dont beat yourself up! We all have our off days and weekends.

You would have probably done the same if you weren't dieting. You cannot put your life on hold for a diet (this is a marathon not a sprint), so just make sure such weekends are the exception, treat them as cheat days, and just carry on as you were before. You probably were not as bad as you think you were any way, and your weight will probably settle back to normal in a couple of days. Any how, I hope you really enjoyed your weekend away

No matter what the scale says, it still takes 3500 calories to gain a pound, so if you had lost 4 and gained them all back over the weekend, you would have had to eat the entire buffet. I agree with others on this thread, water is probably the culprit. Stop beating yourself up and get back to your good habits and enjoy your fabulous Monday!! You can do this with the rest of us!!

echo here...i'm sure it's just water weight especially if you had excess sodium and sugars. Drink double your usual water the next few days and your scale will be back down in no time.
