Polar FT4 Question

Okay, I am thinking about looking into a HRM watch to track calories burned. I was told the FT4 is one of the faves here. I looked at some 'cheap' ones and you have to repeatedly and manually press your thumb to the watch to get your heart rate to update. Is that the case with the FT4?

Thanks in advance.

I currently have an FT4. At first I didn't like it, because I thought that I was really burning calories, but in reality I wasn't burning enough according to the FT4. So I realized that I needed to push myself harder. MFP numbers on calories burnt wasn't the same as the FT4. I believe my FT4 now. You have to wear the band around your chest but it's comfortable. If you search for Polar FT4 on this forum you will find some other comments from the past. That's what convinced me. Good luck in your journey!
