For those of you who use a Heart Rate Monitor, what is the most you tend to burn in 60 mins. I know it depends the weight of the person and effort you put in. But even in the most rigorous work out i have had I have never burned over 650.... but there are people burning a 1000 calories doing the same damn thing I am and I weigh more! I dont get it!!!!

If someone is burning 1000 calories in a 60 minute workout while using a HRM they would be on the brink of having a heart attack.0

Don't worry about what other people post as their calorie burns. You'll make yourself crazy.0

It is actually possible to burn 1000 calories in 60 minutes without causing a heart attack.0

Average cardio workout is roughly 13cals per minute, so 60 mins = 750ish cals
Max cardio workout is generally mountain biking for me, where I will break 1000cals pretty easily in an hour.
Weight lifting is much lower... something like 5-6 cals per minute.0 -

I used to go by the calories displayed on my treadmill, it would frequently display me having burned 700 or 800 per hour, once it even showed something like 960.
Then I bought my Polar FT4 HRM and after putting all my details and weight in, it gives me a reading that is significantly lower than that of my treadmill. I believe the HRM is correct though and at least now I know that what it says I am burning is more accurate than my treadmill.
One example, tonight my treadmill showed me as burning 745 calories in one hour, my HRM displayed 546.
It is the HRM that I go by.
By the way 650 calories burned in one hour is great so don't pooh-pooh it, you are bloody doing grand!!0
