Fun & Unique 5Ks

Does anyone know of some fun, unique, and interesting 5ks? I'm just getting in to running, and anything that is off-the-wall will help motivate me to participate!
I already know about the Warrior Dash (http://warriordash.com/) and the Color Run (http://thecolorrun.com/), but does anyone know of any others?
Feel free to post them no matter where they are. I personally am looking for ones in Illinois or the surrounding states, but this forum can be used as a ground for anyone to get ideas for fun races!

Calgary, Alberta, Canada- Energizer Night Race is fun- 5 km or 10 km runs at night along the water. You get a head lamp in your running kit and there is music and lit up performers along the way.0

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I'm discovering more and more races I want to participate in, which is excellent!
Feel free to post more as you come across them!0 -
I just want to say thanks for bringing my attention to the Warrior Dash! I signed up this weekend, and I am looking forward to it!0

Disneyland and Disneyworld both hold multiple races each year. I'm doing the Disneyland 1/2 in September and the Color Run in April. The Runforyourlife just made me bust up laughing.
You can also try calling local running clubs and shops-they probably have calendars with your local runs.0 -
This weekend a friend and I will be doing a valentines 5K fun run. I found it two weeks ago by searching on Google for 5K/10Ks. I was suprised how many different ones there were in the Puget Sound area. Many of them were also fundraisers for non profits which makes it even better.0

I'd suggest watching Active.com for local races or do a Google search for local running sites in your area. There are lots of fun 5Ks out there involving zombies, obstacle courses, pets, holidays and other themes. Most of them are also for charity which is a bonus.0 -

Tough Mudder! While I wouldnt say it is totally "fun" it is the most amazing race you will ever expirence. If you can do this race, you will be able to do anything. I did it in December and I plan on doing it evertime it comes to Florida!0
-
Your local run store is the best source to find races. Active.com and runningintheusa.com are good online resources.
Good luck0 -
I'm pretty sure I'll be running in the Seattle/Tacoma Zombie Race for Your Life so this is a great thread of other races I'd like to check in.0

I just did Freeze Your Fanny last week.0

I'm doing the Warrior Dash Washington in July. Google Warrior Dash and see if there's one in your state.
Oooops sorry, I just saw that you said you already knew about this one. :blushing: :ohwell:0 -
