Sometimes, if your lungs aren't used to working that hard, you can end up getting coughing fits. This happens to me when I workout then go in cold air outside sometimes.

It should improve as your endurance improves.

That could be what it is.. I developed a slight case of asthma when I moved to Arizona and use an inhaler once in a great while but seem to cough A LOT post work out and almost throwing up as well... I am seeing my dr tomorrow so hopefully he will agree that is what it is

This is what I attribute it to also.

If it doesn't get better as your endurance improves, go see a doc and get checked for asthma. Also, don't push yourself to the point of puking with each workout, you'll burn out way too fast doing this.

If you have an inhaler - use it before cardio. And one trick that I learned which helps me is to put your lips into an 'O' position and breathe in for 3 counts and breathe out for 3 counts. This regulates how fast I breathe and prevents hyper-breathing which for me leads to coughing. I do that when I run and it really helps a lot.

I used to cough a lot after workouts myself. Used to. My lungs got used to the fact that I was now dragging air in and out at greater capacity / pressure than I before. Nowadays I'm hardly coughing, I puff, but I don't cough.

It could be asthma related... but whatever it is, don't let it put you off.

Now the runny nose I get when cycling... that can go right away! ><

I have that too! My doctor told me to take two puffs of my inhaler two hours before my workouts!

Two days ago I realized I had not coughed after coming home from a bike ride so I must have gotten used to the exercise
