  • It is very similar, the way the sugar impacts the blood insulin levels. most fruits are very very high in carbs, and should be limited.s mixture of carbohydrates, sodium, and fat cell stores, is what cover you the swollen,” round look”. I.m.o, if you are going to have carbs, fruits and leafy greens should be the main source.however if you eat fruit for the health benefit, and don't want the added carbs, buy a multi vitamin, and done apple pectin supplement, you should be good.minus the 40g cabs from an some and an orange

I think that the high levels of vitamins, minerals, antioxidents and other beneficial elements within fruit means that fruits should definately be part of your diet. Also, fruits have a low calorie density and are generally quite high in dietry fibre.

I live in sub-tropical Queensland, Australia (for the benefit of Americans - we're as far south of the Equator as Hawai'i is north of the Equator, so very similar climate) and my city is a major national producer of tomatoes, watermelon, cucumbers, macadamias and sugar cane, plus a bit of bananas, cherries, nectarines, etc. Fruit is a big part of many people's diets, in part due to the feeling that you should 'support your local primary producers'.

Even though fruit sugars throw your daily sugar count way over MFP's set limits, I'd be inclined to believe that most people are going to benefit, not suffer, from including a variety of fresh fruit in their diet.

-Ok, I'll be quiet now :)
  • Thank you for the advice... I too am ALWAYS over my sugars on MFP... but it is from fruit.

I tend to ignore it as long as it is coming from fruit.
