So... according to my nutritionist I have to take in 60+ grams of protien aday and I am on a complicated diet (Kind of a diabetic plain, but to much to explain) so my question is to all you is:

What is the best tasting high protien, low sugar bar that you have tried?

I am not looking for one to replace my meals, but a good one for on the go or in emergencies. I have tried Supream Protien and two of them are not bad, but I am all about taste if I am going to put it in my mouth :)

Thanks!

Lonsdale do some great high protein bars. The 30g protein bars are yummy in mint, they also have a king pro bar of 50g peanut and chocolate flavour and they are delicious

Most of the bars are FULL of sugar or sugar alcohols. Have you considered buying some whey protein powder (easy to find in low-sugar versions) and either making smoothies with it or adding it to other foods?

I think I am going to try making my own bars... Thanks for the ideas. I am liking the idea of not having all the extra garb in the bars if they are homemade. :)

I love the Think Thin bars. They have 0g of Sugar (5g Sugar Alcohol) and 20 g of protein per bar! Their snack bars are good, too - 6g protien for 100 calories!

I like the white chocolate, peanut butter, but have tried the lemon ones and they were awful. I'm not a huge chocolate person (I know...it's weird I've heard) so I'm not sure about some of the others. I tried the toffee nut in the 100 cal snack ones and it tastes a bit like peanut butter, but some toffee. They have quite a few flavors!

I get my best deals on amazon, subscribe and save though, so look up there, if you want to try them.

I LOVE the pure protein bars! eat one for breakfast with a glass of skim milk or a cup of tea with sweetner and you are set untill lunch!
  • Atkins Advantage makes some good ones. Everyone I've tried tastes delicious. They have some for snacks and some that are higher calorie and could be a meal or snack. The smaller snack ones have modest amounts of protein (maybe 10-15 grams) and the larger ones around 20 grams. While these have less protein than some others, they also have less of the bad stuff the others have like saturated fat/carbs/sugars/sugar alcohols.

Also Jamie Eason recipes are great. Ive made the pumpkin protein bars and the carrot cake protein bars. Both are delish! Just do a google search.
