So i know with the new weight watchers program, fresh fruit and veges dont count towards your points( I believe thats how it works) So my question is, do you all add them?? I know that they do add calories to your daily intake, but wondered if it would make a HUGE difference to add or not.... I am very tidious with everything on my food that I post, and I HAVE been putting them in, so just want to know if those can start being "free" foods ...lol!
Thanks in advance!

I do because when others view my diary I want them to see EVERYTHING that I eat.0

Nothing is free except water. Bananas alone run over 100 calories each. Not many people got fat from eating fruit, but calories are calories. If you eat it, log it.0

If it's got calories, add it.
I am not quite sure how WW and Slimming World do that "do not count fruit and veg" actually. About a year ago, I had around 10lbs to lose (I put more weight on since then, hence why I am back here), I tried that eating as much fruit as I wanted to and ended up, not only unable to lose weight, but putting more on. When I counted up the calories in a day's worth of fruit that I was consuming, it amounted to something like 700 calories per day (10 pieces of fruit) - no wonder I was unable to lose anything.
This is why I now count everything. Every calorie has its place and that place will not go above my daily allotment (or if it does it will be by a minute amount, not 700 calories lol)
The vast majority of veg is low calories, but I still count it all.0 -
This isn't weight watchers. If you want to go by their methods, use their program. Mixing programs is a sure fire way to have problems.
To your question... yes, I log everything.0 -

Yes calories are calories no matter what type of food they come from.0 -

Yep, exactly that.0 -
It's also not just the calories. Fruit contains a lot of sugar and it is very easy to go over your daily sugar guidelines if you are eating a lot of fruit. It is also surprising how much sugar is in certain vegetables. (I was stunned at how much is in cabbage!)
As I am starting to realise by following MFP, it's all about balance. Too much of anything is bad. Try to have a wide variety of foods and stick to the suggested proportions of nutritional values and you can't go wrong.0 -
Thanks guys, Thats what I thought, I am not on Weight watchers, just know thats how their new system worked and thought I would see everyone elses opinion on it I will continue to add my fruits and veges!!
Thanks again for all the responses, Happy Tuesday!0 -
I log everything i eat. Calories all add up and i like to keep track properly. Also its nice to see that you have had your five a day!0

I log everything. I'm having a salad for dinner tonight and just over 100 calories of it is from fresh produce. Planning an apple later that's around 100 calories. Spinach in my lunch wrap - another 10 calories. Since I'm only trying to lose around 1/2 lb per week right now, if I ignored those calories from fresh produce I could completely stall my progress - 1/2 lb per week works out to only 250 calories per day, and there's around 210 calories worth of produce right there (plus there we're mushrooms and spinach in my omelette this morning so a bit more than that) - I could destroy my intended daily deficit by ignoring my fresh produce. So yes I log everything and I continue to see results - no stalls thus far. :-)0

Hahah yeah, those are the only kind I eat. I don't like frozen kind >.< In fact, I'm eating a tangerine from my aunt's garden right now verrryyy tasty. woo!!0

I like frozen fruit. I used to buy the gigantic bags from walmart with mangos, pineapples, peaches, and strawberries. They're a great snack when I want something frozen like a popsicle. My daughter always wants everything I eat so I try to keep it healthy for her most of the time and did not want to deal with the mess of her trying to eat a popsicle, lol.0

Absolutely! Fruit is a biggie...can add hundreds of calories very quickly if you're not careful.0

Nothing is free, except water. Even produce with few calories can add up.0

I add EVERYTHING because everything has calories. If you don't you're cheating yourself.0
