I've been overweight all my life and was just used to it. Lately, I feel like I'm missing out on a whole lot in life as far wearing cute clothing, being able to do physical activities without running out of breath and just feeling good about myself. I'm almost 35 years old and morbidly obese (300 lbs.), so I hope to reach my goal weight of 160 lbs. within 1-2 years. If anybody has any ideas that you think will me out, let me know. Thank you!

Hello & welcome!
It's a process. Although I only needed to lose 30 pounds, it was such a struggle for me!! Do you know how long I've been wanting to do this?? I then took the leap, like you did, and joined the site. Take advantage of all the support and resources it has to offer you. One day at a time....that's what I learned. I did not deprive myself, I had what my heart desired, but I watched QUANTITY!! Watch your portions!! Get on that database and learn how many calories you are consuming. Journal everything....you will then begin to see how much you are eating, and how many calories you are consuming!! Before you know it...it just becomes habit. You will do without the journal...and be fine on your own!
If you are a snacker....keep healthy low cal snacks around. I love Red Vines sugarfree licorice!! 90 calories for 7 vines!! Great in the car....it helps you avoid the drive thru!!! Be sure to hydrate....and of course workout! Even if its just brisk walking!! It's not a rat race....lose at your pace.....and don't give up on yourself. If you have one bad day..........put it behind you....start over the next day.0 -

I am new to this site as well. I have been using it for 3 days and I love it. I am 36 years old and ever since having my two children I have been on diet after diet. My conclusion, all diets work just which one works for you? The best one I have found , which I am practicing again is Weight Watchers. You eat what you want , they just show you how to manage and count it. Weekly meeting keep you honest, plus they have great tips and recipes. I am a lifetime member and still here I am back on it. It works but we all fall overboard at one time or another. I love this site because like Weight Watchers you track your food and excercise. I suggest hang in there and don't beat yourself up if you go off program, make it up on the next meal and don't think about it. My goal weight is 160 as well , so maybe we can do this together, even though I am at 200lbs , it is all the same for us. We still have to work at it. The other key, is exercise. I couldn't have lost it before or now without it. Good luck and I hope this helps!0

My suggestion is to set your mind to it and follow through. I've been battling my weight since I started having kids 7 years ago. After each kid (I have 3) I couldn't loose the weight, it was impossible, or so I thought! Since becomming a MFPer I have realized how much it wasnt the fact that "loosing weight is too hard for me" but it was HOW I was attempting to loose the weight. I have learned so much about my eating habits and good/bad foods from the calorie counter and it is one of the most important tools that have added to my weight loss to date as well as in the future. The support on here is amazing and everyone is very forthcoming with great information. I know my attitude has also played a major factor so just be honest and true to yourself and you will be well pleased. Best of luck to you! :flowerforyou:0
