One step, on minute at a time. You a worth it, you can do it, just take it a step at a time. Try changing just one thing for the next couple of days. Maybe..... walk 30 min each day or cut out soda (if you drink it). Do one little thing that can help you feel successful.0

In viewing your diary, it doesn't look like you're eating enough. Try eating the recommended calories that MFP gives you and see if it helps.0

Hmm Ok I looked through your diary and I did notice two things...it seems you either don't log for some days or don't complete a day (that's just based on the fact that a day or two had 500 cals and nothing after lunch time logged) and that you eat under your calorie goal a lot.
MFP has already calculated a calorie deficit into the number of cals given so maybe try to eat more and hit the number on the dot. It's ok to go over now and then. Continue to be mindful of the other macros being tracked but focus on the cals for now. Also, the days you work out try eating back some of those calories. It may just be that you're body needs more food.
Definitely make sure you're drinking plenty of water and if you need suggestions about higher cal foods to help get you there, let me know
PS...Diet pills do not work..they're temporary. You'll get this...just be patient and try different things out!0 -
Well it doesn't look like you're logging your food very consistently. Your diary is sporadic and sort of all over the place. Some days you (it appears) only eat one or two meals a day. Other days you eat full meals and drink a couple of alcoholic drinks as well.
What is your exercise routine? If you're exercising a lot, it wouldn't appear that you're eating enough to cover your daily values in addition to your calories burned.
You say you want to get healthy. Going to the Doctor to get diet pills is not a healthy way to lose weight (and unsustainable unless you want to take those pills forever). Why are you really doing this? I mean REALLY doing this? You need to be clear on your goals and motivations.0 -
I have to agree with the others here. You're not really working your butt off to lose the weight if you're not completely committed to it. If you're going to use this site, do it religiously. Log everything you eat, every day. As long as you are able to get on a computer or have a cell phone, you are more than capable of logging your foods. Even if you have to guess, at least you are being held accountable for yourself. I also think you should probably be eating 200-400 calories more than you do on average, it looks like you're not getting enough food. I have to ask too, how long have you been exercising / counting calories?0

I know its hard, and especially when you think that you're doing something to change and then it doesn't. I've been there time and time again, and I've gave up a lot and did whatever I wanted to. But I'm back again. I've had to work out and eat right for a solid month before I lost even 1 pound. But it will happen, just stay dedicated! Good luck on your journey.0

I realize not logging consistently ... but I do exercise 5 days a week and eat at least 3 meals.... I know I need to log more consistent then you guys can look to see. I will for a week and then post again for it to be viewed.....0

Don't do the weight loss pills...waste of money...hang in there, this is a lifestyle change that you should embrace and love, keep at it and don't stop, eventually things will happen, stay away from the scale, it takes perserverance and patience for the change, you didn't gain the weight overnight, and it will take about the same time to get it off. One step at a time.0

Moderation is the key. You should be eating more food, in less quantity, more often. 5 or 6 times a day food should be going in your mouth!
Get rid of the fast food, alcohol and sodas...as well as any processed foods you can do without. Try to eat less "diet" food, and more real, organic and raw foods!

I am feeling very frustrated as well, as the more I have been exercising the more weight I seem to be gaining have gained half a stone since xmas and do not think that I am eating a lot more than normal although have been craving sugary foods and feeling as though I need to eat more sometimes and then feeling bad for giving in and then thinking if gaining weight what is the point although since signing up to this it is telling me that I am undereating so wonder if this is why I am gaining and not losing weight, anyone else experienced this?0

You have to log every day. Even if you are eating terrible - log - so you see the mistakes and what you can fix over time. Working out does nothing if you are not eating correctly. Working out is just icing on the cake. Weightloss is 70% diet, 20% exercise and 10% genes.
You need to eat 5-6 meals a day that are smaller. Drink lots of water.
Weight loss takes time. You should only lose 1lb a week really. In a month that means like 4-5lbs... and sometimes around your period you might b up 6 and then it appears you lost NOTHING - simply not true - this is why the scale is eh. I only weigh myself once a month the day after my period. this usually gives me an accurate reading. Just remember it does take time. I lost 20lbs in 5 months. It's small steps that lead to big results.
Even the people on the biggest loser who work out 6 hours a day 7x a week sometimes lose 2lbs in a week. That's how it goes.
Patience. Consistency. Repeat. That is success.0 -

Ever heard the phrase "You can't out exercise a bad diet"? It is very true. If you are eating more cals than you are burning (which seems to be the case) then you are not going to lose. MFP is designed so you can log EVERYTHING in order to hold yourself accountable.0 -
You can do this. It took me awhile to see aaaaany kind of loss. Try eating back your exercise calories and change up your workouts.0

Hang in there. It does not always happen fast. Make sure you are eating healthy whole foods. Stop eating when you are full and avoid becoming so hungry that you eat the closest, maybe not so healthy, food around. It will happen hang in there. Also, are you doing any strength training? My metabolism has sped up because of the strength training I have been doing these last 4 months. It did not show right away, but I soon began to lose inches. You will get there. Don't give up!0

I wanted to come back and add too - it took over a month for me before I started seeing any significant weight loss. I know that for a lot of people that I've seen on this site, that is the opposite of the "norm". It seems most people tend to lose a lot of weight rather quickly at first, then it slows down for them. For me, I lost very little in the first 2 months, then it sped up. Maybe it will be the same for you, maybe your metabolism has just slowed down and it is going to take some time to speed it up to the point where you can start losing weight. Just wanted to add that thought because I too was very discouraged in the beginning and almost gave up. But it was actually my husband who told me about the slowed metabolism thing, and he kept urging me on to keep going. He told me once I got my metabolism going strong enough that I could eat pretty much whatever I wanted (within reason, obviously) and not gain weight so long as I continued my exercising and had a regular diet a majority of the time. I definitely believe he was right.0

Denise, how long have you been working towards your goal? I could only see a couple days worth of entries. Healthy change doesn't happen overnight! Eat enough to satiate your body's needs, and keep at it. Being healthy is a life long journey.
Also, your profile was pretty vocal about reason to lose weight is"to be sexy so my guy will want me more :-( ". I would gently submit to you this is not the best motivation. Your value and self worth should never be wrapped up in random guy's opinions of your body. There is not lasting fulfliment or true joy in that.0 -
Hey here is something I learned over my journey
females no less than 1200 cals a day
males no less than 1800 cals a day
why?
if you eat less your body goes into starvation mode which causes it to store which causes weight gain
3500 burned cals = loss on 1lb of fat
3500 cals = 1lb of fat put on
low carb is key my dietitian says 150 or less per day is a pretty good amount
Don't call it a diet just be wise on what you put into your body and treat yourself when you meet your goals
lean meats, red meat and taters 3-4 times in a 2 week period, whole grains keep you fuller longer, heavier meals in the morning, sodium no more than 2400mg a day, fresh fruit and veggies, don't drink you calories, 8+ glasses of water a day, stay away from junk food/fast food/processed food, treat it when you meet your goals, don't eat the samethings daily or do the same workouts or your body will plateau
you can do it! promise!

ive lost a few friends on MFP that wanted advice then couldn't take it and deleted me
if you want a friend that will help keep you motivated and look at your diary or when you ask me to check things for you and give you honest feed back feel free to add me

you can do it
Now other things to consider do you have thyroid problems? have you got a blood screening recently to check your vitamin and cholesterol and blood pressure etc levels
Also check your sodium start tracking it like I said above daily limit is 2400/2500 mg, if you do anymore then that (which most do without realizing it) and they are not getting enough water the body will store what water it gets causing water weight
Also, egg whites are so much better no cholesterol and lower in cals, add some veggies cause veggies are so good
reason I say eggs, did you know ONE egg has almost your daily amount of cholesterol
?
Check your numbers and check your foods make yourself accountable
it takes 3500 BURNED cals to lose 1lb of fat
BUT
also works within reason to what your eating and if your eating enough
body's need fuel to fire

I gained 195lbs in the process
March 2009 I got on track and in 19 months I lost 156lbs
Then we got buying/selling houses
I gained some back

Just started with my personal trainer and he insisted that I NOT focus on my weight, and even not weigh myself, but rather focus on keeping track of calories and eating high quality unprocessed foods, and doing cardio/weights at least 4x week. Body Fat vs Muscle Ratio is what is important, you want more muscle and less fat. Also look through the forums and read up on weight lifting, people posted pictures of themselves only weighing 1lb less but their bodies are clearly more toned and muscular because when you have more muscle your metabolism is higher thus burning away more fat.
Be honest with yourself, track what you eat, workout, keep yourself accountable and don't give up.
Like others said eat the amount of cal/fat/car/pro whatever that MFP suggests.0 -
First... track EVERYTHING, EVERY SINGLE DAY....I looked at your food diary and honestly you are not tracking all day, or at all on some days, my guess is this is where you are having problems.
second.... if you don't have one get a kitchen scale - I think I paid 14 dollars for mine at Walmart - its digital, it has a tare function and it measured ounces, grams and pounds (which is only nice for recipes)
third.... quitchyerb!tchen.... seriously your weight didn't go up over night and it sure doesn't just go down over night, remember everyone loses differently. Take measurements and pictures and stop putting everything into a number.
Make small changes you can live with forever, and don't expect things to change over night... your body will do what it wants to, your weight will fluctuate, you will stay steady, you will lose, and sometimes you will gain... its just the way things go.
I have been at this for over 2 years... I have lost 1 pound but my blood tests have come back with marked improvements, my measurements have changed and I really just got 100% committed to this whole change... so give it time and be consistent.. you will see the changes eventually.0 -
Put the pills down! They won't help you long term and not good for you. Tnoire is dead on. Make sure you are getting enough food. What kind of excercise are you doing? Don't fixate on pounds. Is your body tightening up? Because if you are doing power type work outs you are going to gain muscle which ways more. For me a good sweaty cardio workout that raises my pulse drops pounds, weight training tightens up.0

exactly! muscle also helps burn more fat and cardio is key factor and you can even mix some weight training in there and elguapo is right it will tighten things up, takes time but remember slow and steady wins the race!
Biggest loser when I was reading there stuff they mentioned working out 90mins a day 6 days a week sometimes more, is a good thing but on the show they don't have to worry on daily lives, make this time about you doesn't mean start do it tomorrow start slow work on your eating habits a lot of times when you drop the pop and processed and junk and fast food you will be shocked how much the scale goes down then add in exercises 15mins here or 30 there til you build up to what you can do and over time you will get stronger
another thing I did was write me a list of reasons to lose and the pros behind it
my biggest having kids!
living a long and healthy life for my future kids and my hubby and most of all ME!
post it on the fridge read it every morning when you take your first drink of water/coffee
memorize it
goal it
everytime you wanna hit for a snack
read it again

Oh dear you've been on MFP for almost a year Is that right? you must be in pain with nothing happening... you seem to have heaps of sensible supportive people wanting to help you... I wonder what you really think is happening?
You do not need to work hard... just be honest... record what you eat... everything you eat... make your diary private then only you will know... record for one whole day... with absolute honesty...
Then again the next day see what happens if you do that for one whole week...
If you go over your calorie allowance think seriously about what you are prepared to drop
Then think seriously about what you are not prepared to drop... you might surprise yourself
Drink lots and lots of WATER it works...0
