Am I the only person trying to GAIN weight?

Hi all! My name is Matt. I've decided to turn a new leaf and focus on being fit, rather than being big. I'm happy with my stature, but I'm trying to add some physique or to "beef up" a bit. I'm trying to get involved in the fitness "scene" here in Western Kentucky, where I call home. I feel like I'm fighting a lonely battle because I can't find a single person that can get motivated to take an interest in being fit, healthy, and determined.

So, in my quest to find the physique and structure I've always wanted, I have come to a startling revelation... I might be alone. I'm weighed myself last night post workout and I weighed in at 154 pounds. I'm seeking a finely tuned, tightly packaged, 165 pounds. I've began making headway and can already see a difference in my physique from the front and I'm starting to see a slight difference from the side. I'm just not gaining the weight fast enough. I know, I know.... muscle takes a long time to build up, especially from scratch. Call me impatient ( I'm really not), but I'm having a time trying to consume as many calories as I need without going broke!

I'm excited about being able to feel my abdominal muscles. While I can feel them without flexing, I can't see them without flexing. I've been incorporating a longer ab workout after my warm-up and just before my main workout. I'm considering adding an ab workout in the morning before breakfast seeing as my main workout for the day usually happens later in the evening. I'm going to be working those bad boys religiously from here on out.

If I could only workout my chest as much as my abs! I'm a rock climber so my back is naturally developed, but it gives me a posture that pushes my shoulders forward and caves my chest in. I can see a difference in my posture from the past month and a half of steady work, but I'm looking to really ad some weight to my upper body, primarily the chest and shoulders, while seriously toning the rest of me up.

Is there anyone else here trying to GAIN weight? If so, where are you trying to gain? And, what kind of diet are you using to supplement the growth? I was going to stay away from supplements, but it seems I'm going to add some whey protein and L- Arginine to try to accelerate my growth.

I am also gaining weight. Gaining weight is easy for me, the balance of slow weight gain to minimize fat gains is hard.

By the way, whey protein is not going to accelerate your growth, and L-Arginine is garbage.

I'm also trying to gain weight! I want to be really strong, so my muscles will add some weight to my body. I'm not overweight so losing weight would be pretty pointless for me! :p

My daughter is trying to gain weight because she is underweight by 3 lbs she loss like 6 pounds when she became really sick and that put her at 115 lbs and for her height it's underweight. Her doctor recommended she put the pounds back on, although she has always wanted to gain weight it's been a problem. I think mostly when she gets back to her regular weight she should use weights to become stronger versus really getting bigger. She has changed her mind about gaining pounds though, at least until she has babies that will make it easier to gain :o) Keep up the good work everyone. Me myself I have pounds to loose :o)

If you want to gain lean muscle mass, you have to eat. I definitely recommend a mass gainer for one. You can get one through bodyfortress.com for pretty cheap at about 15 bucks a tub. Dont eat garbage though, I mean eat plenty of lean meats, carbs, vegetables, etc. Mix milk with your mass gainer and definitely throw in some peanut butter and peanuts. Get a tub of casein and have that with some milk right before bed. The casein will slowly digest into your muscles while you are sleeping. When you go to the gym to lift, you have to lift hard. While you are bulking up, every set should be so heavy that you need help to lift the weight. If you can find a gym partner that also wants to bulk up that would help you. I hope this helps.

Weight gainers ARE garbage. Overpriced garbage, at that.
