Why can't I lose this 40th pound? For the last month or more I have yo-yo'd between losing 37 and 39 pounds...up down up down. For the last two weeks I lost, putting me back at having lost 39. So this week I worked really hard, haven't missed a work out in over a week, ate good all week, and weigh in day was today.....stayed the same. Ahhhhh, it's like my body just won't let me get to 40 and it's driving me insane.

    Right there with you Amy.

It bounces around 2 - 3 pounds. Up and down like a yo-yo. Today I had a hissy fit because it was up 2 lbs. My poor husband didn't know what to do with me. I was ready to throw in the towel but of course that would be stupid.

One day the scale will move down again and it will all be worth it
  • My scale FINALLY let me hit double digits after working out every day until yesterday. Yesterday I did normal daily activity (walked to the bank at work which is like half a mile round trip, etc) and ate the calories I'm supposed to, but NO extra exercise and I found this morning that 2 pounds had come off! Woo Hoo! Try weighing after a rest day? Good luck! I can totally feel ya on the frustration but you'll get there!

Good morning! There are some really good threads on this site about plateauing and how to get moving again. Maybe they will help!

    Good luck!

So I noticed, throughout points in my weight loss, that my body stalled for a month or so. It happens, stick with it. A few times I kicked around my routines to jump start the process, and I even did a "bad meal" day once that worked incredibly well. I chalk it up to my body making adjustments, when it finishes, the weight loss begins again...

NOTE: a "bad meal" is NOT a bad DAY. What I mean is, shocking the system every couple of months with a really horribly bad meal does not mean eating terribly for ALL your meals, it means eating normally throughout the day, but replacing one meal with something you really shouldn't, like a McDonalds Big Mac combo, or something like that. It can shock the body a little sometimes. Hey, whatever works right.

Not saying you should necessarily do this AA, but it's something to think about.

Have you tracked your sodium and sugar intake. Some times this can be high and cause your weight loss to be slow even if your calories are in the good range. Really try to cut out sodium and sugar for a couple of days and I bet you will drop below the 40 lbs mark.
