i started dieting again last weekend. past 2 days all i've eaten is 'natural food', so fruit, veg, nuts, oatmeal......

yesterday i ate:
oatmeal with honey
lots of cucumber
lots of carrots
lots of lettuce
handful of nuts
apple, persimmon, plum, pear, tomato, grapes
chicken breast
half an egg

as you can see, its quite a lot of fruit, and the calories add up. i'm eating all day, but its on healthy things.
i just feel like i cant lose weight while munching all day! these things just dont fill me up!
would you recommend anything different? less fruit? am i eating enough/too much?
THANKS :)

That doesn't seem like many calories at all. What is your total calorie count for the day? That would be my guess why you aren't full- you aren't eating enough.
  • Try adding in foods with more protein. A lot of times, I'll dip my veg into a tahini dressing or hummus. Both are healthier options than regular dressings. Or I'll have some Greek yogurt with my fruit so it holds me over longer.

I think you need more protein (why only half the egg??) and more whole grains. A little less fruit. Are you not doing any dairy at all? It just seems a little unbalanced to me. The choices themselves are healthy on their own, but "big picture" I don't think it's a healthy plan.
  • You should probably eat more fiber. Not feeling full can lead to binging for some people. Pears and apples have a lot of fiber in them. Same goes for oatmeal, sweet potatoes, etc. Try different things until it feels right basically :)

I eat a lot of fruit too, but I find the best snacks for holding me over provide a mixture of fat, protein, and fiber. So - a piece of fruit and an egg; a piece of fruit and a little cheese; greek yogurt; some sliced turkey with a sliced tomato; you get the idea. Some people swear by nuts and they do have all the elements of a great snack, but they don't work for me because I can't stop at one serving.

  • Eat more veggies over fruit, simply for the sugar content. Also, a great book to read that discusses natural eating (and the author is vegan, however the book covers eating in general) is Thrive Foods! It will help you get the most nutrients for the foods you choose as well as teach you that portion control, when you eat plant based, does not work. Read it and see what you think, I am clearly only learning myself! Hope that helps!
