Anemics

As of today, got my bloodwork back... i am anemic. i need to eat more iron! they say that it is probably because i have such horrible awful periods/ ANYWAYS.... what are some suggestions? anyone who is anemic, what do you eat? i need iron :/ but i don't want to get constipated. thats the worst.

    I personally take 70mg of iron daily. I haven't had an issue with the pills at all.

    Try a multi vitamin plus iron if you are having trouble eating the necess food to build up your iron intake. And up your fiber intake to prevent constipation.

    but check this site out it has alot of good suggestions on food that is iron rich and that you can get into your daily diet!

    All of those suggestions made me horribly constipated. I think it depends on you. I take Spatone liquid iron. (it's naturally occurring iron rich water) that particular supplement has no side effects and is more readily absorbed by the body.

    multi grain cheerios have 100% iron in one cup ((one serving))

  • I am also anemic (my blood tests register 0 as my iron, and super low B12) and I feel awful taking Iron supplements (stomach pain, constipation). I recently started taking FeraMax 150 and I dont feel any of those effects.
