How the heck did I hurt myself doing 30DS...what now?

I was on day 3 of the 30DS and I noticed when I did jumping jacks the leg, below the knee, would hurt, it felt weirdly "twisted". I took 3 days off due to it being my 2 days off for the weekend & then I was sick the 3rd day. I also figured maybe my leg would be fine by then. I didn't notice any pain until I did jumping jacks again last night. Again, it's the lower leg, same leg, same spot. Today it hurts a little when I move it wrong.
I don't think it is anything serious as it doesn't hurt at all to walk, so there is no point in freaking out and going to the doctor. But I feel like I can't do the jumping jacks. Should I just keep pushing myself through them, skip them or what? What do YOU do when you have pain while exercising? (I'm new to exercising)
TIA!

Could it be shin spints?? I have serious shin spints and mine hurt down the front of my shins, but mostly up by me knee.
Don't push it if it hurts too much, you don't want to aggrevate something that may be serious. You may need to go to the doctor and have it checked.0 -
When I started the 30 DS I did my own version of the jumping jacks. Mostly because I was 50 lbs overweight and have 1 bad knee so I didn't want to push it. And I did it even though Jillian says there's no modification for a jumping jack and I don't care that 400 lb people can do them I wasn't gonna risk hurting myself. What I did is I just go back and forth and bend my other foot up to my butt alternating. As for my arms I did the basic JJ move with them. Guess what I still lost over 40 lbs, obviously I did more than the 30 days. I only just started doing the jumping jacks in levels 1 & 2 normal a few weeks ago. I got so use to doing them my way after I lost a bunch of weight I just never thought to do them. Either way I'm losing weight. I think the biggest thing is that you are moving and keeping your heart rate up. Try those and see if the helps.0

Me too!! I'm on Day 8 of the 30DS, and on Day 6 I think I pulled something in my knee (or just above it). We should probably go to the doctor or something...but I'm just toning it down for now, following Anita instead of Natalie. I spent one day doing just floor work (pilates, abs), and that was a a little better. Don't get discouraged!!0

Thanks! I did notice that going up and down the stairs is a bit painful. I don't think it's shin splints, I *think* I've had those from jogging...they were more in the front of the leg. This is kind of the knee and down the back. It's weird, I've never even felt these muscles before! LOL I think I will just modify the jumping jacks and keep up with everything else that doesn't hurt!0

You may want to do additional stretching after you are done with your 30ds. I do calf stretches, side stretches and longer leg stretches. I suggest especially to do the calf stretches as that sounds like the area the has been stressed.
Hope this helps.0
